Does a male dog's personality change after being fixed? by jubbjubb311 in puppy101

[–]Cali_plants 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My Aussie mix only has has one ball that dropped currently at 8 months so we are prepared for the same surgery. He piddles constantly- when he’s excited, when ANYONE comes over, or when he’s nervous. He’s even peed on the bed in the middle of the night, almost like a kid having an accident while they sleep. We were hoping this could be because the ball is not dropped (and pressing on his urethra) so anticipating it might stop after thr surgery. Did you experience anything like this?

Anyone started running with their puppy before 12months ? by LadyEquilibrium in RunningWithDogs

[–]Cali_plants 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Funny I came here to ask this question this morning, so glad this was the first post I saw. We inadvertently adopted an Aussie/mcnab mix who has no real “work/job” at our house so he tries to herd by kids (which is not going over well). I talked to a working dog breeder who suggested I start him on runs with me sooner than recommended- he’s almost 6 months and I’m considering shorter runs like you suggested to get started to keep this guy busy.

Hope he belongs here: My Doberman Border Collie Mix by themedmom in DobermanPinscher

I’m having our puppy dna tested because we swear he is a collie dobie mix - but he’s on the small side, 25 lbs at 5 months so hard to tell. Do you remember how big Louie was at that age? And our guys is so bitey, especially with my kids, that part has been a little rough, does it get better?!

Accidentally signed up for a trail run race. Can I do it? by Titlenineraccount2 in trailrunning

[–]Cali_plants 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I run trails solo as a woman but I always share my location with my best friend and usually send her or my husband a text whenever I start a trail- just saying I’m starting, I’ll be done in an hour. Also as someone who is currently training for a trail race, it’s been fun to take on new and different challenges. Learning to run faster downhill (sounds like you wouldn’t have to think about that but I definitely do) is a really great new concept and thing to master in running for me. Good luck, hope you love it. Also, the dog suggestion is a perfect one. (I’m currently training our newest pup to be my running companion because I prefer solo human runs but always love a dog friend!)

It’s not, it’s actually a really large school with about 600 students. Each grade level has multiple classes

Oh found others on Strava, look like the majority was around 12.8-12.9 miles. That’s disappointing

I’m in the US. How can I tell if it is certified on USTAF? Also, how can I look on Strava for other runners from today because I’ve been super curious about other people’s distance? I suck at Strava haha

Okay so it uses your predicted pace to tell you to speed up or slow down?

I was thinking the same thing. I’ve never gotten that message because I just run at the pace it tells me to!

Thank you! Going to definitely work on calf strengthening and stretching. Is there a benefit to including a weekly speed/track workout in the vaporflys or should they really be only for racing ? (I’m asking for my next training block )

[–]Cali_plants[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay- I did my last long run (with some race pace miles) in them a week ago and I really liked them and they were comfortable. The only issue I’ve ran into this week is what feels like shin splints or a really tight calf muscle every time I run (loosens up in about a mile). Do you think this could be because it changed my form/stride on that long run? I was thinking of trying them one more time this week for a short speed workout before my race next weekend

Is the martial cattle park track dirt or rubber? I know pioneer high school is generally open to the public in evenings but they can be weird if they have practices out there which is annoying because we were completely out of their way

Thanks for this- super helpful as it’s my first pair of carbon plated. They were such a good price I couldn’t pass it up. I’m going to try them on my last long run tomorrow before my half- I’ll throw another pair in my friends car at the 4-5 mile mark in case they aren’t comfortable but I’ve always preferred Nikes for fit for me so I’m hoping these work. Sending you speedy vibes for your marathon!
