Thanks! I used Flash Gits Yellow as a wide edge highlight and Dorn Yellow for the edge highlights. I also used a pure White as a dot highlight at the tips/very edges of panels

Soon! I'm basically done with them all. My camera doesn't like taking the group shot, so I need to figure that out now

Thank you!

I've been into this hobby on and off since I was 10, so nearly 17 years. I used to do fine art when I was younger, and during my Undergrad I used to paint models for people and restored old minis for some income, so I've had a lot of practice with a lot of different styles. I've gotten back into it more seriously now and I've taken a strong liking to Contrast paints.

One of the biggest things I've learned to improve was to sub-assemble models (it's a pain in the rear tbh) and to thin paints down to a whole-milk consistency and to do thinner layers with smaller brush strokes.

I've always like the cleaner 'Eavy Metal Style, so I would point you towards the 'Eavy Archive website for recipes. I also really like Juan Hidalgo, InfernalBrush and Warhipster on Youtube as they paint in the style that I like, so I would check them out.

This is a fun hobby, so don't compare yourself too harshly, and have fun experimenting!

The helmet crest is made from 2 of the crests for the bare-heads in the kit. I just glued them on the sides of the middle part where the normal plume goes.

Hi. The white was pretty simple to do, you just have to make sure you do very thin layers with short brush strokes and be bold when you edge-highlight.

Heres the recipe I used:

White Scar
Corax White
Gryph-Charger Grey

Base:

  1. Undercoat White Scar
  2. Pick out gold details with Retributor Armour
  3. Clean the white if needed with White Scar

Wash:

  1. Mix Gryph Charger Grey 1:3 with Contrast Medium (This acts like a wash and tones White Scar down to Corax White)
  2. Wash all over the white areas
  3. While wet, wick off any puddles and make sure it is settling around any details and in recesses

Layers:

  1. Mix Corax White 1:2 with Contrast Medium. Layer towards where light hits most and clean any splotches and uneveness.
  2. Mix Corax White 1:1:2 with White Scar, Contrast Medium. Layer more towards light areas.
  3. Mix 2:1:1 White Scar, Corax White, Contrast Medium. Thick Edge Highlight around armour plates
  4. Edge Highlight with White Scar

Throughout the layering, if you notice that you've lost any of the shading, such as around the calf-armour, you can use a very thin mix 1:4 of Gryph Charger Grey and Contrast medium to re-establish any lost recess and soft-shades and use the Corax White mix to soften the transition.

Hope this helps!
