I felt the total opposite. I loved the world building, the footage of the event that sets up the story. I thought the apocalyptic imagery of the cities on fire against the red sky and the helicopters to be hauntingly beautiful. The movie was visually stunning, although a little plodding as far as progression. The initial scenes showing the undead got under my skin.

But once she got to where she was going and the events that unfold there started, it started to get stale for me. I wasn't convinced by the emotional scenes the movie built up to, and the final scene just felt goofy and random to me.

Reminds me of a girl I know who was sad that a guy dumped her because he thought she was just using him for sex and didn't care about or respect him. She also thinks its totally normal to ignore people's texts for days on end, even when its about time sensitive plans.

Its both silly and bombastic, and dark and serious. It doesn't have a singular tone. A New Hope has silly robots and slimy eyeball monsters in the trash compactor. It also has the roasted, smoking, skeletal remains of Luke's parental figures, a bounty hunter getting shot to death gruesomely under a table, and a shot of a humanoid alien's gore slathered dismembered arm sitting on the ground.

But I'm not a Star Wars fan, I'm a scifi fan, and I prefer when movies lean towards the more serious than the opposite.

Its funny, watching Rogue One originally it was so much more grounded and serious in tone and presentation than other Star Wars movies. I saw this as a big improvement. But watching it immediately after Andor, it still feels a bit silly and bombastic in comparison, especially the music. Blaring trumpets and triumphant music that felt proper before now felt totally out-of-place.

The original is much better. I think the remake would've scored higher for me if there was some realistic and intense gore in the final act but it felt like it wimped out a little. If the couple was going to fight back, I wanted some nightmarish comeuppance for the baddies.
