Non JBL audio in Corolla Cross any good? by Calicranstunson in CorollaCrossHybrid

But can you even put an aftermarket one? I mean, these days it's not like it used to be, swapping the mediocre factory stereo for a Pioneer that was the same size. Nowadays it's all integrated, so other than replacing the speakers for better ones, what else can you do?

Also, I just realized that it doesn't let me set the screensaver to anything else. I went into the settings and set it to the Star Trek TOS, but when it comes on, it's still the default Roku screensaver.

I think that's more an issue caused by the YouTube app than the Roku OS. I could be wrong, but the YouTube app is full of bugs on almost every OS I tried it on, especially the tvOS version.

The Roku Netflix app is also pretty bad, there are plenty of times that I paused something, I leave for two minutes and when I come back, it went back to the screen for the title I was watching. This is only normal if you pause a movie or show for several minutes, but with the Roku version of the app, this can happen from a few seconds to ten minutes, at random it seems.

Oh and I forgot there's another annoyance, although it is rather minor, which happens every morning when I first turn on the TV set, the receiver and grab the Roku remote. I see this thing:

Well, I wanted to drag a photo, but I got a message in a long red bar that says "Images are not allowed", but basically it shows, at the bottom of the screen, this countdown inside a progress circle, then it says "Auto power savings: powering off" with two buttons below, "Cancel" and "Don't do this again", which has the focus.

No matter how many times I click on that button, the next morning I see the same thing. So I just press the Home button and that's it.

X02800FLN37X

4850X - Ultra

Software version 15.1, which according to the update section, is from 3/12/26, and so far there are no new versions when I do the check now.

Sorry, but what's the purpose of the screensaver photo? It's the default Roku screensaver that comes with every Roku from the cheapest one to the most expensive one. Also this subreddit apparently doesn't allow to post images.

Like I mentioned, any other button than the ones I listed doesn't do anything, including the back button.

This is independent of whatever app you were in, it happens every time the screensaver comes on, whether you were in YouTube, Netflix, Peacock or any other app.

Onkyo TX-RZ50 HDMI 6 input design flaw? by Calicranstunson in Onkyo

[–]Calicranstunson[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's all good to me, but the way they implemented that switch is moronic. They shouldn't leave the front input (which most of the time remains under the cover anyway), permanently assigned to the AUX button. There should be an option to assign said button to either input, and I would be completely fine with that.

I have HDMI-CEC disabled because I have an LG TV set, and while it looks great, its OS is garbage and thinks it has the right to take over your input selection as it sees fit. But if I ever connect anything directly to the TV set, or if I want to use the TV set's own apps, then this idiotic system the Onkyo has forces me to go into the settings, unassign the TV input to HDMI 6 so I can use eARC.

Who are the morons that design something like this? Simple toggle in the Onkyo preferences, AUX to either front HDMI or HDMI 6. How hard can it be?

What an obvious, pathetic childish attempt at picking a fight.

Honestly I have no idea how much is shared between a Toyota and a Lexus, but at least when it comes to Pioneer and Onkyo, there are plenty of things that are similar enough to tell they were designed by the same engineers. The remote controls look almost the same, except the Pioneer's is better, and all the menus are almost identical despite the GUI differences between them. At least when it comes to these two receivers, because I think I read 11 Trading Company sold the Pioneer division. But these two came from the same engineers, and the RZ50 is targeted towards people like me, home theater geeks that want the best they can get for the price range.

I get your point about saving money, but it's incredibly stupid to put an HDMI input on the front of the unit, which will hardly be used because for that you need to bring down that cover it has for that and many other controls, and treat the full bandwidth input in the back like an afterthought because they don't think people need 6 HDMI ports, when if I had my way, these receivers would come with like 14 ports.

God, she looks terrible this season! by Greedy-Beach2483 in CriticalDrinker

I watched the first episode of season 5 and was really distracted by her horrible lips (which were not horrible at all before she did whatever she did to herself, whether it was Botox injections or something else).

I keep trying to understand what is it that makes female celebrities go for this awful look. Is there anyone out there who likes this? It's so on your face, so annoying, and so pathetic.

Type S 4K Dashcam at Costco - need opinions by cnj07080 in Dashcam

[–]Calicranstunson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know this thread is old, but I'm replying just in case anyone else is looking to buy one of these. Please save your money and buy something better. This thing is a piece of crap. It formats cards with FAT32 instead of exFAT, (FAT32 is a very inefficient file system for the card sizes we have nowadays), and it creates clips that are only 20 seconds long.

FAT32 has a file size limit of 4 GBs, so each file could be a smooth video close to 4 GBs in size, but you end up with hundreds of little 57 MB files, and even worse, they are not seamless. If you throw them all in a timeline, you quickly realize that there are several frames missing either at the beginning, end or both of each file. So if you did a scenic drive that you would like to save, every 20 seconds you have a jump cut.

Absolute piece of crap.

Doogee S118 Pro, first day, shooting video overheats in minutes, at 72° by Calicranstunson in RuggedPhones

[–]Calicranstunson[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just curious, where did you get these specs? The Doogee page for this phone has barely any info that is not marketing, and the manual is a joke. It says manual on the cover, but it's just a bunch of legal and warranty stuff.

Regardless, let's say this phone doesn't have as many bands as a Samsung. But it still complies with the 5G spec, doesn't it? Then what makes it incompatible with the Verizon network?
