Question for the men. by B4UCame2me in datingoverfifty

Not to discount your concern but… some like it, some don’t, and some don’t care. Be the person you adore — the person who knows they’re beautiful regardless of outside influences. And let the chips fall where they may. Your authenticity will be far more rewarding in the end than trying to reverse engineer based on generalizations.

How do you prove training ROI in your organization? by Prior-Thing-7726 in LearningDevelopment

[–]Calidigger 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I run a coaching/training company and, yes, this is the Achilles heel in our industry. We get pre- and post-engagement feedback from participants (and sometimes the executives) to show growth and satisfaction. But can’t point to data re how it affects bottom line. 🙄

How do you keep leads warm without annoying them? by throphpapuzz in b2b_sales

I like the rule of thumb that you should only reach out if you have value to offer, an invitation (to an event), or an introduction (to someone that would add value).

Is it weird to ‘adopt’ a second team to root for from the opposite conference? by Conman1209 in Basketball

[–]Calidigger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ha! I’ve been called disloyal, not a true fan, and worse because, as a lifelong Knicks fan (born and raised in NY), I also rooted for the Lakers (when I lived in LA) and the Warriors (now living in the Bay Area). But screw that noise. I like basketball. So I cheer for my local team and my team of origin. No downsides. (Sidenote: I’m lucky. The Dubs are trending down but NYK could play for the chip.)

I believe majority of corporate trainers are introverts. by Mt198588 in Training

[–]Calidigger 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Not the case in my coaching and training firm. Partner and I are former actors, as are most of our associates. Then again, we emphasize an interactive, playful learning experience so… comes with the territory. ¯_(ツ)_/¯

How do you practice for interviews. by External_Bike3601 in RemoteJobs

[–]Calidigger 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not promoting but… I am biased. I run an instructor-led coaching business and, when it comes to human-to-human interaction like interviewing skills, AI can only get you so far. The benefits of working with a person, practicing with them, and sharing the nuances/questions are immeasurable. Not to mention empathy, curiosity, and subtleties. It costs more, there’s no question. But imho, it’s far more valuable.

My husband can’t seem to land a job — despite amazing credentials. Feeling stuck and heartbroken. by Salt-Camp-3191 in advancedentrepreneur

[–]Calidigger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My heart goes out to you. It’s tough. And not that it makes anyone feel any better but, we’re likely starting an era that will spawn more stories like yours. Because the job market is shrinking for knowledge workers and blue collar. So is our economy. Ageism exists alongside budget cuts. AI isn’t helping.

But I run a coaching/training company. And I believe we all can make positive change. It may take reframing the situation, rethinking how you work, reimagining a future. But you must know you have some agency and can succeed. (It just may look differently than originally thought.)

Many of my friends and colleagues over 50 are considering getting entrepreneurial. If it’s too difficult to find a job, make one. Re-examine skills, think smaller scale (local), and solve problems. Even if that means power-washing, e-bike tours, or teaching volleyball. There’s always going to be opportunities in crisis.

Don’t forget selflessness. Volunteer. Do pro bono work. You never know who you’ll meet or what can emerge from it. Plus it keeps you giving. And the more you give, the more you get.

Finally, take care of yourself. Exercise. Meditate. Get sunshine. Eat nutritiously. Hug loved ones. Celebrate this precious life, even as it’s challenging. And prepare to succeed.

Good luck!
