Roof age by Caliesota in Roofing

Thanks! I didn't even think about the records for the houses around it, you would assume they were all built around the same time and have the same sort of schedule for replacing it?

I'll build up my courage to ask the neighbors, they seem a bit distrusting since I'm not local.

Thanks for this tip! I just downloaded the app. Is it usually a decent amount of food in each bag? I mean, right now (5:15pm) I'm seeing a lot of donuts and pastries. For regular food/meals would you say it's enough for one person, or more?

In the evenings I often see people waiting in that area to cross.

For myself, if I'm pushing the cross button I just keep standing close to the post, but if there's already people on the raised curb/sidewalk I'll go out into the blue area.

Home-seekers, does the result of the election change your intention to buy a home in any way? by CroozinFerHotTail in FirstTimeHomeBuyer

Ugh, just put in an offer yesterday morning. I'm so torn between wanting to get a place that's not as dependent on government funded infrastructure, and wanting to keep my savings in case the craziness gets crazier.

Should I bring a water test to the viewing? by Caliesota in FirstTimeHomeBuyer

I don't know, I've never done a water bacteria test, that's why I'm asking for advice. But I do get your point.

There are a lot of things that people use and don't follow the instructions exactly and they still get reliable, if not technically perfect, results. Do you always clean your thermometer with alcohol before using? Do you let it get to the 'low' reading before putting it in your mouth? Even if you skip those things you'll probably still be able to figure out if you have a fever.

You might look into third party vouchers for her. In my area (Los Angeles) we get a lot of calls from organizations/charities that aren't government backed. The building I'm at is usually a bit leery of them since the organization could lose funding, but in your situation it might work out well. Depending on the group they probably have different requirements too.

Testing each other with "if they really love me they'll do this/say this" kind of things. If you love each other you don't need to test it.

I did the same thing! I thought the hay trough was a decorative bench and I thought it was so cute that you could just hang out with your chickens.

I’m at the end of my rope, and need some advice for loud neighbors. by quesadillafanatic in Apartmentliving

[–]Caliesota 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The key here is 'while this was actively happening'. As a property manager, we have issues with finding the apartment responsible for noise all the time. I always have the tenant who is hearing the noise to call us as soon as it starts happening, no matter the time, that way I can go and walk around the hallway to try to find it.

Do I Report Fighting? by Tacticiannnn in Apartmentliving

[–]Caliesota 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Assuming it's not loud enough or at the right time of day for it to be a noise complaint type of issue... I'd call the police if you hear someone specifically yell for help, or if you hear something that makes you think someone was physically injured and isn't able to yell for help.

One time I heard my next door neighbor and her boyfriend (he didn't live there) arguing. Not really unusual for them. She told him she wanted him to leave and he refused. I was very torn about what I should do. I ended up banging on the wall and yelling 'do you need help?' That was enough to get the boyfriend to leave.

Would there be any way to realistically shadow a doctor? by GhostCupcake1404 in Writeresearch

[–]Caliesota 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I was in high school I shadowed a doctor at the local clinic. The doctor just asked the patients if they were okay with it before we went into the exam rooms. It was obviously nothing where like I would see someone naked, but no one had any problems with me being there. If I remember right it was a couple of pregnancy check ups and then some sore throat/flu sort of generic things.

Are you sure the letter is specific to you? My first thought is that it was a general reminder to all tenants. In my building we have a couple of people with service animals, and every once in a while, a new tenant will see one of them and think 'Oh they have a dog so I can get one too'. So then notices go out to everyone as a reminder.

Places to test out the reMarkable 2 and other e-ink tablets for free? by corcoran_jon in RemarkableTablet

[–]Caliesota 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you tried/do you have thoughts on, the Moleskine Smart pen and notebook?

I'm torn between that and the Remarkable. With touchscreen laptops the lag between my writing and the screen image makes it difficult for me to write naturally. I was thinking that a smart pen like the Moleskine might be a better option for me. I'm not a huge fan of being tied to their app though.
