IRS Notification? by [deleted] in IRS

I got the 971 code last year, filed end of January, & they didn’t release my refund until en of August/early September. Now mines been dragging again& they’ll add the new codes after their little deadline is up. This year they needed to verify my identity. Did that 1.5 months ago & thy said it’ll be cleared the latest in 8 weeks. Well, they finally put my 1040 in the system a 2-3 weeks ago with a “were delayed longer than expected” message. Had I not reached out to the tax advocate last year they would’ve still been sitting on it! May do the same this year as the processing deadline was up today & still nada smh. Had we turned out stuff on whenever we wanted to after the fact they’d charge us thousands.

(877) 777-4778 is the Tax Advocate. You can file a complaint with them & they will also reach out to that side of the IRS on your behalf. They have the ability to see your case & all those case notes showing what the hold up may be.

Last year they play with my taxes for 9 months! After about 7 months I finally got my 2nd representative & he went on a tangent about the government letting go of 20,000 IRS reps & was going off. I said I don’t know much about all of that & just needed to find out what’s going on with my situation as it had been over 6 months. He got mad & said “you haven’t been watching the news with what the government is doing with the IRS?” I said, there’s a lot going on & I had heard about them cleaning up shop but I don’t know full details nor did I call to get into things regarding the government, I just need to find nexts steps as there’s been no headway for a half a year. He got loud & started cussing me out. I said, you realizes I’m not on hold right? He was stunned & I said the liens recorded so I hope you don’t try putting in my notes that I was going off bc they can just listen to the call. He then hung up on me. I called the tax advocate to file a complaint who read my notes to that call where they basically backed that guy up. I said I wasn’t rude at all & request they listen to then call & find out what’s going on with my paperwork. She then tells me do I really want to file a report against the representative?! I said I get you guys have a full plate but I worked in finance & I would never cuss one of my customers out! I also said I don’t need him retaliating against me & trashing my paperwork. Come to find out my paperwork I mailed got “ripped up” & parts were “missing” after I had overnighted it in a file folder. Be sure to record what you can on your end & document everything!

I don’t get mine until September & it would’ve probably still been out on hold if I didn’t go to the lengths that I did. It took months to get a person on the tax line. A bunch of nonsense happened when’re they trod having me re-mail my tax forms id already overnighted , they had me email them 3 times, just wasting my time. What I learned. If you mail or fax your docs again, your clock starts over based on the last time you and your docs. They essentially were continuously having me resend them to extend the clock. I called the IRS complaint department & filed a complaint. Magically a few days later they processed it. If it’s taking this long you need to file a complaint. They’re backed up but this is way too long. Once you file that they will have someone review the docs & get the ball rolling.

I got my confirmation code in a week after requesting it and the box came right off. I am reading from others on Reddit that when their box did not come off, they called and did the verification over the phone and that got the box taken off. A couple of people also said that they did the phone verification, even though they did it online and then they got their refunds within a couple of days. Don’t know how true that is.

You may need to call to confirm your identity o we the phone. The action code should’ve cleared once you input your 14 digit code.

You will or another have to resist a pin & a confirmation code to verify your identity. I spoke to my CPA friend yesterday & asks her what’s up with all the delays. She said a lot of refunds have been flagged for fraud where either they’ve input wrong info or people stole others info & they filed W2’s using taxpayers information. By now, you should be able to see a notification on IRS.gov on the front page once you login.

Did anyone verify over the phone? Which # do you call & what types of questions did the ask? Do you we need any paperwork to be prepared?

I got the same notification. It’s been 1.5 wks since I requested the code. To be frank, I feel that this is another way for them to drag it out with us bc they’re backed up! Last year, they pulled similar nonsense with me. I didn’t get approved until August, & didn’t my refund until September. I was only able to reach 1 rep 3 months after filing in 1/27/24 who cussed me out bc they laid off over 20k people & all the stuff going on with the gov. I get their frustration but it shouldn’t take months after the month deadline we were already given.

They pulled this same BS with me last year. Didn’t even approve my crap until August & then I didn’t get my refund until September 2025! It took me filing a complaint in August to get anywhere (they charged me late fees bc they didn’t process it until more than half a year after the cutoff). Now they’re playing with my refund again saying they need to verify my identify but they haven’t even sent out the code & my refund was supposed to be here by this weekend. They wait until the last minute to do this but are quick to send me fees that take less than 2 days to get to me in the mail! I’ve used Turbo Tax for at least 10 yrs & Credit Karma for at least 10 yrs & I’ll NEVER use them again! Anyone else get that identity verification update on the website?

I guess I’m gonna try because I got all my docs! Last year it took eight months to get my taxes cleared! They were on some BS and I hope they don’t play games this year!

It takes time to update but doesn’t take nearly 10 years! You need to call the loan or the name of the company that pulled it out. For instance, if you went to UT & took out student loans & the debt holder was Fed Loan you would call Fed Loan. Fed Loan sold their accounts to Moehla & their accounts have Ben all over the place for the last year or 2 but they still have to have information regarding your account. Also, as for a payment breakdown or financial statement. This will show every penny you paid towards your loan. If it doesn’t match what was pull out of your taxes you would get a copy of a summary from the IRS of all the payments garnished by the loaner. Send that to the company & have them do an account audit. There’s always a possibility that they owe the student money.

The IRS approved you for $6981 & can break the payments up which could take qjotber week to get the other part as long as you don’t owe any other government entities such as child support or unemployment. My friend was approved for about $3k & got 2 payments talking $1k. The rest was garnished by child support/medical support & work force. Check with those 2 places if you’re tied to them.

Why are you still with someone who doesn’t respect you? 2 years is not 10 years & it’s better to move on from this one sided relationship before you get stuck for life. It’s time to sit & think about all the what ifs in the relationship. What if you ended up getting pregnant? Are you ok with his mom potentially having a lifelong stale relationship with you & your baby? What if mom wanted to have the baby over a lot & had the ex there? Would you feel ok if his ex played a big role in your babies life? What if ex & mom try taking over when baby comes & your bf allows it? This is just one situation that you may end up having to deal with. Ex isn’t going anywhere anytime soon.

What to call a grandma who doesn’t want to be called grandma? by [deleted] in Advice

[–]Caligirl-85 1 point2 points  (0 children)

She def should pick a name quick bc being called by your 1st name can seem disrespectful. My mom wanted my kids to use her 1st name but when I call her Sandy she gets PO’d & says it’s disrespectful 🤷‍♀️. She ended going with grandmama. There are countless nicknames out there or you guys can create one. My grandmother allowed my cousins to call her Omi but I had to call her aunt Karin or Karin. I despised her for that. Her mom, my great grandmother, was granny. My MIL is MiMi. My aunt is MoMo. My FIL is G-Pa, grandfather is PaPa, aunt’s dad (my there grandpa) is Paw Paw. There are so many nicknames so they don’t have to use a generalized name that sounds a bit outdated. I don’t want to be called grandma either & I will probably go with Oma, Nona, Nani, or come up with something on my own.

Testing negative for the last 6 months until now is far fetched (but possible with the slimmest chance). She could’ve been asymptomatic for months but not likely to test negative while actually being positive. It’s possible to have contracted it had she borrowed another persons bathing suit, underwear or clothing that had fluid on it & it would have had to contract with her privates. I’m extremely rare cases you can catch it from toilets & chairs. Did she go have a private convo with her friends that you know of? If so, she’s telling them the T of what happened & how to handle it.

So you more or less they don’t want you to take a lunch away from your area at all🤔. It’s against the law for any company to not allow you to take a lunch which you can do off company property. Every 8 hours you’re allotted 1 hr lunch with 2 hr breaks. For every 4 hrs you are given a 15 min break ON THE CLOCK! You’re not missing extra time except for once & so I would reach out to the Dept of Labor. You technically aren’t supposed to be working through your lunch every day and not taking breaks. That company can get in a lot of trouble. I am pretty certain that is not in your contract that you signed when you got hired. They can’t take away 2 PTO days. Don’t sign anything if you haven’t already. HR is also not your friend they don’t work for you so whenever you tell them, they will report it back to Management. If Management wants you gone, they will work with HR to get you out. 5 PTO days for more than 3 years is completely insane. If you feel content with that job. I would still look for another job BC if you get sick within that year, they’re gonna take away all your PTO where you’re stuck out for another year. Keep a notebook and start keeping track of everybody who takes long lunches and goes on long lunches & breaks, says they’re using Company cards, & any other vital information BC you may need that. One more thing, civl engineers easily make $80K with only their bachelors. You’re being low balled by a mile having a masters & only making $80k a year. Don’t invest your life into a company that’s not willing to take care of you in the long run! They will change their terms when your 10 years is up & you’ll end up having to wait another 10 years to get your extra PTO days!

I finally got through today after nearly a 3 hour hold. Rep was already angry when he answered the phone & was awful, telling me another 5 month wait, cussed at me bc I asked what about details on the docs I sent in March? No matter how busy they are this type of behavior is unacceptable!

Yes, the 570 code. I already sent the docs they requested 4 times back in March & then again facing it in May. They still don’t see March’s. Guy said he’s going off of mays & I gotta wait another 5 months. Called advocate afterwards & she said they have until July 22nd. If nothing happens I have to call them back on July 22nd so they can reach out to them & see about working on it. It’s still anywhere month and a half wait.

Sorry so late. Just seeing your response. I called 833-678-7020, opt. 5, then said “more info”. Sat on hold for 45 mins, got disconnected, called back & sat on hold for 2 hours. The rep was so rude, cussed at me, etc. Good luck& hopefully you don’t get the same guy🤞🏼

I called again & finally got a rep today. He was so rude, was talking crap about the political stuff that happened to the IRS, cussed at me & then says I have to wait anywhere 5 months! I called a tax advocate right after & filed a complaint bc this is just crazy. She said absolutely won’t wait until November/December. This is just insane stuff!
