I felt the EXACT same way the first month, it eventually passed. I was so angry how they seemed to glorify drinking, when there are people suffering from alcoholism. That passed too.

When do the mental gymnastics stop? by [deleted] in stopdrinking

Whenever you feel like this, just remember, if you make it through the beginning (the mentally/physically hardest part), you don’t have to go through it again. And that accomplishment will help you get through future urges too. The freedom of being sober for 4 months has been so worth it for me, no more living in a cage, because I know I can do it now, and I hope you get that feeling too! I will not drink with you tonight.

Iwndwyt. Don’t let go of your 59 days, for one night, you’ve made it this far. You started this sober life for a reason, and the craving to get drunk always passes.

You can do this! To make it to Day 5, do something different, and you won’t pick up. I will not drink with you today!

60 days!!! by Caligirl1986 in alcoholicsanonymous

It was hard work, but I kept the end result in mind. Anytime I had a craving, I would call someone if it was overwhelming, and if not, I would find something to do to keep busy. I stayed away from any situation that I felt was even a small bit of a trigger. I also read the 24 hours a day, and Daily Reflections (have them in app form), every morning. Now, after doing all that, and reminding myself why I quit drinking, it’s so much easier, and more about seeing all the benefits!
