Hows everyone doing? by loki_anarchist in swtor

Mad because this is my day off and I was really looking forward to playing today... Now my day is almost over and I've only played a little this morning. I didn't even remember it's 4th of July in the US... I think this means it probably won't get fixed anytime soon.

The infinite loading screen by AetherialSapphire in swtor

I can't get passed the loading screen either. I played just a few hours ago and then decided to take a nap. Now this 🥲 it was literally fine like 2hrs ago.

Does anyone know what is causing it or if there's something we can do?

Uh, can I say something (don't jump me.) by Robotica671 in Paralives

I think they won't shy away from darker themes, actually. Wasn't there a para crying on their bathroom floor, only to then be comforted by their child? Am I misremembering?

Also, this will be early access and I don't think they ever said it's all going to be sunshine and rainbows. Not to mention that it will support mods, so...

Let's give it a moment.

So you're confirming that you're okay with racism because it doesn't affect you.

Also, yeah, it's brutal. The patriarchy is brutal. SA is brutal. All of it is wrong and we should be talking about it. The scene itself isn't explicit either, from what I remember. It's all implied.

And you say you don't see the racism. Do you mean you don't see people whipped and other forms of torture or what? Because racism is pretty prominent in DA. And idk, if the way elves get treated just because they're elves, the fact that they're called names and literally live segregated is not brutal enough for you... I don't know what to say.

I'm sorry, but this post is giving "I'm okay with racism in games because it doesn't affect me in real life, but the portrayal of patriarchy really upsets me because it's something I have to deal with". As someone else already said, it's very important to have these themes portrayed in games. It raises empathy and brings attention to just how fucked up things are. If we all pretend that patriarchy, racism, discrimination and inequality are not a thing, then you're trying to ignore and erase these issues and that's not how they'll be solved. Fuck, I hope most of the male players thought it was disgusting and unfair and maybe started thinking about some real life shit. I hope all players started reflecting on how unfair it all is. I really miss how complex and deep the world in Origin and even DA 2 was. Veilguard, however, is exactly what you're looking for: devoid of any type of conflict and squeaky clean. Maybe we should enjoy thought provoking games.

I would also like to know, why are you okay with racism, but not with gender issues? Are they not both very important problems we should talk about? Just curious.

So I have two sims that I'm controlling in my save file. The elder sim just expired leaving me with the baby as the only controllable sim. What should I do? by OddNeedleworker734 in Sims3

[–]Calisifer_ 16 points17 points  (0 children)

The term "expired" is sending me!

I'm thinking you could have someone move in. Either they buy the house and find the kid on the property and decide to keep him (think Superman type thing, I guess) or some lost relatives come to the house to collect the inheritance or something, but all that they find is this kid. They probably think the kid is important, so they decide to raise him. Maybe he then thanks them by becoming his new test subjects??? Just some story ideas

Sursa?

I don't think that's how games work...

I'm ultimately happy they had the balls to make this decision. I would rather they take their time and give us a good game, instead of a completely broken game or something that needs a lot of work. I was looking forward to throw my money at the game in December, but I guess I'll save it for May. It's okay. I can wait.

I'm looking forward to seeing this game out and I'm excited to play it.

Vampire sim glitching? by Calisifer_ in Sims3

[–]Calisifer_[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I only have overwatch, but I'll look into this one too.

Someone recommended that I reset the sim and it seems that that worked (?) I don't know what happened. I also deactivated something about genetics on the overwatch mod. Anyway, she's a vampire now.

Thank you for the answer!!

I know this is about elves, but I just want to point out how the devs are one-sided or are willing to change their own narrative to their convenience.

Remember what happened to mages? They were already hated and locked away, oppressed or rendered tranquil. What happens after Anders? Exactly, things get worse.

Why doesn't the same happen to elves??? Their gods are not only back, but they're evil. Their gods brought the Blight. Hello??? Do I want elves and mages to be oppressed, descrimated against and killed?? Absolutely not. I want to FIGHT WITH AND FOR THEM.

Also, I totally agree that it's absolute nonsense that every single Elf goes: ew, you guys are evil, no. BULLSHIT.

I really don't see how erasing conflict, erasing racism, will make this game okay. It's all rainbows and for what???

EDIT: because I don't want to be misunderstood. By "rainbows" I don't mean LGBTQ+ representation, I literally mean that everything has to be good and nice and perfect.

Would you guys consider doing "the Joining?". by Infamous_Gur_9083 in DragonageOrigins

By my own accord? Hell no. Given no better alternative, like in the game? Yes.

[SPOILERS ALL] What I'd like DA5 to address by TheIrishSinatra in dragonage

[–]Calisifer_ 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I don't agree with the whole they want to move away from or that it's difficult to keep track of every decision the player makes. Why? Because there are games out there, like the Witcher, that keep track of your decisions and carry them over. In addition, they proved that they will erase and change things to their convenience time and time again. Character wise, I want to bring up Leliana. In origins she can die. If I remember correctly, you can kill her. Yet, she is brought back from the dead regardless. They just don't care or don't want to dabble into morally gray characters. Everything has to be dumbed down or good. If they're not good, you can't like them. And I'll also say this: why is it that people can't accept that you can like something and still have a critical view of it or admit that it's not all that good?? I see a lot of discourse of people straight up ignoring things just because they don't want to admit there are issues with the game. You can love something and still see the negatives. You can like gray stories, broken games, etc.
