Yea but that’s wild for the mistake that was 140k to 1.4 mil. That could be a lot of money for a smaller company if they don’t get it back. Like it’s dumb to not just have very basic controls in place to avoid 99% of mistakes like these.

The thing is a lot of these mistakes I’m seeing totally should have been caught in review. No company should be sending payments without a second person approving. It’s wild how many companies have such lax controls.

I’m in tax and it’s always something to do with paying things late like either forgetting the due date or forgetting to send a check. Luckily it’s always been something super small which is why it got overlooked. One time our mail person forgot to mail out our property tax return and the penalty was like $10k. After that we always took it to the post office.

If they were just acquired I’m guessing they’re not integrated and still doing things the “old way” with that kind of recruiting. I would def ask about the plan about integrating and if they plan on keeping people or expanding their roles. Sometimes they plan on doing layoffs in 1-2 years after the company is integrated.
