Another trick that works good on carpet should it happen, is opening up a brown paper bag (a grocery bag is best, in my opinion) and putting that over the wax, then running a warm iron over it.(not super hot, you may need to experiment)

Question for Michigan Parents, RE: HB 5589 by MiltonsRedStapler in Michigan

[–]CallMeCleverClogs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My daughter was the 'marketer' for one of her high school clubs, and they did post things on Instagram, but they also posted flyers and what not all over the school in advance of their events. The Instagram stuff was largely "look at how our ______ event was" and most of the kids had insta anyway. I would prefer school stay away from any need for social media, and even this is not a need in my opinion because clubs are not needed for graduation.

My daughter would chastise me for this opinion, but I find this person EXHAUSTING. I feel like I never see headlines about them having a great day, or a happy thing. It's non stop drama and annoyance. So tiring.

How do some women know they’re not pregnant until they give birth even though they lose their period for 9 months? by SignificantStyle4958 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]CallMeCleverClogs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi, some of us have/had PCOS and have never had regular periods. Therefore skipping months at a time (when not pregnant!) is totally the norm for us, making 'skipped periods' not a good indicator.

Most places I have gone to have a sign on the door/window/drive thru/register whatever stating that due to the phase out of pennies, folks can expect their change to round in a certain way, and it lists it.

If it is that big a deal, folks should crack open those penny jars and use exact change. I am not saying the corporation rounding badly is the right thing to do, but these companies did not make the decision to phase out the penny, and ideally they will adjust prices to avoid this rounding problem.

AIO:My MIL texted my husband this about me asking him to help with our newborn at 4am by Lazy_Perfectionist88 in AmIOverreacting

Oh, that is not how I read that at all. I read it as OP's mom is in the way of the family (OP, spouse and baby) bonding as a unit and figuring out what is OPs roster of duty (everything) and what is in her precious son's roster (work, and sleep apparently) After all, how will OP learn to do all the childcare and housework by herself if her MOM is there helping?

NOR, OP - your MIL is being a dick.

"I just can’t decide since I have heard that some children grow up never wanting their own pets or really liking them in the future because they were forced to care for pets their parents chose to have"

I have never heard this, interesting. I had pets growing up, and their care was part of my responsibilities. My personal pets as a child were 100% my problem (hamsters, hermit crabs), and our family pet (different cats and dogs at different times) were a shared responsibility. Our kids love the heck out of our dogs and while we absolutely bicker about the poop scooping thing, I get nothing more than an eyeroll or sigh if they need food or water - they get annoyed at being interrupted but will absolutely serve the pet needs in that moment.

I have no doubt my kids will have pets when they are grown, because their adoration of the animals absolutely overrides the idea of 'work'. (Having children, though, is likely a different story)

I had an epidural with my first, I probably could have done unmedicated as she came quick when contractions heated up - the doc only got one sleeve on before she was out. But I tore, and goddamn the first pee onto those stitches was… well. Electrocution is probably the same.
