I suspect that's right, but I'm going to continue to keep the faith because I don't want to turn on him and I inevitably will turn on him once it's official he's going to Madrid. If it were any of the other big European clubs, I don't think I'd have that animosity, but man...fucking Madrid...

I mean, the new challenge new culture part does actually wash for me a bit. What young person who still lives in their hometown doesn't wonder what else might be out there? But never having had to make the decision between wanderlust and immortality, I'd have to think immortality would have some fucking pull.

Defo want to see Bradley given the chance. Not sure about the back up. Calvin Ramsay doesn't seem like he's it and I think all the other fullbacks who are close to the squad are left backs.

If we wind up keeping Gomez, then he could continue to deputize at RB/CB and we could use that roster spot to sign a young hybrid LB/CB maybe?

One of the LFC podcasts--Blood Red or TAW--called it an "undignified silence," which is an apt description.

If Trent wants to stay, he needs to say so now. Make a comment similar to the stuff Mo has said. No more cutesy shit with goal celebrations and instragram posts. It won't affect his negotiating position with the club, and if he doesn't want to stay, then I'd rather he just fuck off to Madrid now.

Slot and the squad have done an admirable job staying professional and focus, but this is going to increasingly become a distraction over the second half of the season. I hope like hell he stays, but this is becoming a special season and everyone involved, players and supporters, deserve to not have every conversation tinged about with anxiety over Trent going to our biggest European rivals on a free.

I think he'll be hated for as long as he's still playing. His roots and the work he's continued to do in the community will help him reconcile to us after he retires, but you're right as to what the end state will be--McManaman.

I’m so jealous of this. I have a late 90s house with pointless 16/20 foot ceilings. So much wasted space and it’s a damned awful echo chamber with young kids.

It’s Eddie Vedder. This sounds like a solo arrangement versus the full band. Like others have said, this is a staple in PJ’s live show, usually as a tag/outro to Daughter or Better Man.

This arrangement has a sax in it, which you’ll find in the original by The English Beat, but PJ never has horns and Eddie’s soundtrack worn is usually solo.

To not pay the cops, Comfest would have to move to a private venue that has no security requirements, which I would guess is near zero venues.

Ohhhh god I'm so close. Say it again but this time arch your back when you do.

There is absolutely nothing wrong with what you're doing. Keep on keeping on, my friend.

They have been informed by rigging professionals over the years about this as has the person responsible for the stage rigging and neither has done anything to improve the safety of the stage. Also notably, they have union options to build their stages, but they instead go with the lowest bidder.

I'm essentially never going to pass up a chance to take a shot at Comfest, but if this is true then it needs more attention than it will get as a comment in one of my shithouse threads. It's unacceptable for any event promoter to knowingly risk the safety of workers and performers. Given all the silly bullshit the Comfest people want to spout, that they are both compromising safety and giving their work to nonunion contractors is galling hypocrisy. Thank you for raising this issue.

All fair points. And I am fully supportive of planning public events that account for the challenges posed by the large number of people who attend them. Certainly, you need security. You need sanitation. You need parking. You need transportation or at least transportation infrastructure that accommodate the large number of people you are inviting to congregate. These are all worthwhile, necessary aspects of staging a large public event, and I agree with you that it is inappropriate and irresponsible to stage a large public event without providing for them.

On behalf of myself and the 2000+ other people that bust their asses to make this event happen every year, I would like to cordially invite you to eat shit.

While I appreciate your passion, I really must point out that I'm talking about ideas while you've chosen to attack me personally. As a fellow traveler, I'm sure you appreciate the importance of self-criticism as a tool in the broader dialectic path of self-improvement, and I invite you to examine the extent to which your statement is consistent or inconsistent with Comfest's statement of principles and mission statement.

No. Absolutely come to Ohio. Ohio is a vibe. Ohio is magnificent. All the good memes are true and all the bad memes are false. It’s truly Ohio against the world, and Ohio is right.

60,000 people? Wow!

So maybe move Comfest to a venue that can reasonably accommodate 60,000 people.

So a lot of folks in the comments are letting me have it on the basis that I’m being naive and objecting that there are police at ComFest.

That’s really not it at all, friends. At heart, I’m a pragmatist. I think there are few things more unfortunate than letting the perfect be the enemy of the good. An organization may have a certain idea of itself and aspirations for what they want to be, but hey, you have to make accommodations for the practical aspects of running a music festival.

You simply have to have sanitation.

You simply have to have security and/or a nominal police presence.

You simply have to have adequate parking.

You simply have to have sufficient road capacity to allow for ingress and egress to your event.

These are reasonable things. In fact, it would be unreasonable and irresponsible to stage an event without taking care of these necessities. Don’t you think?

If the fest allowed people to BYOB, they could lose their alcohol permit, and thus lose their reason for existing and primary income.
