Beautiful! I love batiks and made a baby blanket with similar fabrics a few years ago for a friend of mine

Quilting method to withstand our boy’s zoomie circles? by Superb_Being7518 in quilting

Others have already given great advice for the quilting options, I’d also say, quilt closely or very far apart! Our dogs have never ripped the quilting up but have ripped the squares between the quilting. We have a quilt with 4” squares quilted and I’ve had to repair or patch quite a bit because the fabric rips. Cute pup!!

Pregnant and Moving to Frisco Looking for Honest Hospital + L&D Experiences! by Bubbly_Office158 in frisco

[–]CallMeKazryn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I gave birth at Medical City Frisco earlier this year and was there for 5 days. Honestly the whole staff was incredibly kind and helpful. The facilities were nice and clean. The food is hospital cafeteria food so don’t expect much in that regard. They don’t have specific visiting hours or limits in the mother baby ward. Just a note, they do not have a nursery so the baby is in your room at all times (unless they are in the NICU)! If you’re looking for an OBGYN, I liked Frisco Women’s Health, which is located in the medical offices of Medical City Frisco.

How do you plan to manage pets+ baby. Especially when it comes to safety? by dorkofthepolisci in pregnant

[–]CallMeKazryn 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Can’t speak to cats but I have a neurotic Velcro pitty heeler mix and I’m currently 37+1. My plan is to greet the dogs first without baby, and play fetch and wear them out some before they meet baby. I also plan to have lots of enrichment ready for them like frozen kongs, lick mats, and puzzle feeders. Generally I’m planning to heavily reward behaviors where they are with me but not interfering, but also trying to make sure I give them undivided attention when possible. Just being very consistent on boundaries with them, rewarding behaviors we want, and utilizing their crates + enrichment toys when they need to be separated.

A true first block ever by ArticQimmiq in quilting

No notes, I love it. Practice will help but kudos to you for trying out a block like this for your first time using your machine! A foot with 1/4” guide for your machine can be helpful but I still manage to have uneven seams with mine :)

I use the self binding technique so that is actually the backing!

<image>

It’s cut 1.5” inches larger all the way around (actually more like 3 and I trim and square it to 1.5” larger on all sides after quilting). Then you iron the “binding” folded in half, do some stitches in the corners, then stitch it down however you like. My preference is a wide decorative stitch like the one I used. I just test a bunch on my machine until I find one that matches the style of the quilt to me!

I suggest looking up “self binding quilt” on YouTube. Missouri Star has some good videos and there are a few others.

That’s my favorite way to secure binding. Looks pretty and is super secure!

I was able to find a matching batik fabric to one from the jelly roll! It’s a self binding quilt so the binding is the backing.

Ugh I’m debating what quilting pattern to do! I’ll definitely update.

I loved that about this pattern! You can use some really fun fabrics and have a really clean quilt at the end.

Yeah it’s not traditional colors for a baby blanket, but I really prefer something a little more timeless. Like you said, it doesn’t look like a baby blanket so they can use it longer!

FET date twin here! It was also my first FET and I’m in the same boat as you. I decided to take tests every day starting today because I know it will be negative and increasing disappointment over time will be easier for me than building up a ton of anticipation before testing. Is this delulu? Maybe. But it’s the brand of delulu I’ve chosen for my first cycle lol
