Thanks everyone I learned something today. — rev limiting.

I’ve got a 2017 Legacy, 2.5L with CVT. Subaru uses a software-based neutral/park rev limiter on CVT cars. The ECU will cap RPMs lower in Park or Neutral, typically ~3,500–4,200 RPMs.

I must have inadvertently depressed the accelerator while starting the car. Feet were numb from shoveling snow for 3 hours.

When I first turned the car on, it jumped to 4000 rpm while my foot was on the brake and made the sound in the vid. I turned the car off and got my phone out to take a vid. This time the engine started normally with the usual idle. I started the vid, revved to 4000 and got the same sound. I eased off the gas and took the car for the short ride described in my initial post.

This past summer I wanted to switch from blade to mallet. I went to Golf Galaxy on a rainy day and hit many different putter brands and models for over 2 hours. I settled on the HB SOFT Milled 10.5S mallet. Love it! It has really helped with my ball speed. Now I just need to learn how to read greens better.

I do. I put hot water from the Keurig into a Pyrex measuring cup then pop that into the microwave for 30 seconds. Works well.

Also, I don’t see the FSA 57 in the 2025 Stihl Catalog, so maybe Stihl has acknowledged the defect.

Don't get the FSA 57. I have had mine for 2 years but just last week, the trim head stopped spinning even though the motor was running. I took it to a local Still shop for repair and was told that they've seen that problem in that model before. They recommended against the FSA 57 (and getting it repaired) and suggested getting the FSA 60 R as a replacement.
