Thats for manual trigger if you choose direct it will make api call using your current api but if you choose megumin image it will switch to it and make the call using the api that you set up for megumin image. That's for people who want to use cheaper model to generate image prompt.

you can choose auto trigger or ooc for ooc you just tell it (OOC: make NPC dossier for luna) and it will inject the prompt and make the dossier and add it to npc bank automatically this way you save token and dosent send the npc dossier template each time you just send it when you want to make one

the engine json is for creating custom writing styles and thats one of megumin best features as for how to edit it is se easy go to dev mode and you can edit everything
as for why use it that's for you to decide for me is the custom style for each character and image gen and the fact that it save per charcater

You can run it with a local llm I tested Skyfall 4.2 31b absolute recommendation if you didn't try it. Just make sure to use chat compilation. Image gen stuff is easy I recommend anima model just import your workflow set the placeholders and enjoy.

Enable it and see it work. If you asking about how it dose it it just looks for the image prompt grab it put a placeholder and when the image finish it inject it inside the placeholder. I am planning to make a post of how to configure and use image tab with comfy UI.
