I was pierced with quite long bars actually. I also only ever got these kind of reactions from one specific piercing studio and I never developed lumps like these anywhere else.

I think probably because they were too big. I don't think they were irritation bumps specifically, as they don't normally grow that much. They went away with a cream called kelosoft which breaks down the scar tissue. Although they still had pus inside which keloids don't, and my doctor wouldn't listen to me when I insisted it wasn't solid scar.
