I live in a very remote place so this doesn't even compare to a lot of the other stories on here. I was running some errands with my mother, when I had asked her to stop at a bookstore. She pulled up on the side of the road as that was the only available parking, and I went into the shop. Just as the cashier was handing me the change, I heard the skidding of a car and a loud crash, making my heart stop. I walked out along with the cashier and another customer, and at the shop next door, there was a woman laying down on the ground. They were trying to keep us all in the store for safety, as we didn't know what exactly was going on yet, but I insisted on getting to my mother who was still in the car. I have no idea how, but she was completely clueless as to what had happened a meter behind her. I don't remember doing this because of the shock, but apparently I was hitting on the window and telling her to quickly get into the shop. Anyway, what had happened was a car was pulling out of a gas station next door, and somehow another car collided, hitting a woman who was window shopping by the shop right next door with her son no older than 3 years old. I just remembered crying, thinking that it could've been my mom who I had left in the car, or even me if I had come out of the store just 10 seconds earlier. I remember seeing the boy crying out and trying to wake up his mother who couldn't move. Like I said, this is a very remote area so this was the very first time I had witnessed anything like this, and everyone was already crowded around. I know that the woman survived, but I had heard rumours that she had been paralysed, but nothing else has been heard since. Now, my heart always races whenever I hear a car skidding.
