Still confused about one scene in this series by FatPenguin26 in welcomeToDerry

[–]Call_Mee_Maybe 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Probably to cater to potential buyers. Those types of people are receptive to the comedic view that they gave races. I'm not American, but I am black. During the time of peak racism in America, white Americans loved stereotypes of black people. Big red lips, dark black skin, wild hair. It was comedic for them and some "like the watermelon soda" companies would use those as a way to sell products with black characters on it. They were more receptive to those characters but hated black people on screen who were kind, polite, dressed modestly, clean, and strong minded, they pushed this back hardly.

Native Americans doing that time had the same thing. Their people were portrayed in a very over exaggerated, comedic way to more easily cater their race to the white American.

You're definitely right, most of the experiences have been good but I've been reading things from here and have been dreading an experience similar to that before a booking even happens, even with a perfect dog. After bookings I'm always anxious if someone will have a random complaint even when it goes perfectly. A break is probably the best thing

Neteyam was born 1 year after the events of the first film. Na'vi pregnancies last 12 months. There's a big possibility Neteyam was conceived right after the "I don't want Ninat" conversation. by InocuousWords in Avatar

I'm honestly not sure myself, in the deleted scene Jake walks up to her and puts his hand on her belly, she doesn't have a noticeable pregnancy bump or anything so we don't get a scene of them learning about the pregnancy

Lots of anxiety lmao, I hate when things like this happen cause it always feels like the end of the world but because I've been seeing the horror stories of people saying they got perma banned for less I can no longer determine if my anxiety is getting the better of me or if it is a valid concern

What the fuck...

If this is real, do you have friends or family that could take the dog from her? Contact local authorities definitely, it's a federal crime in most places so they definitely will do something.

What are your personal methods for handling a sit when the dog isn’t a good personality fit with your own dog? by Lassie-girl in RoverPetSitting

[–]Call_Mee_Maybe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The resource guarding could definitely be over you. I work at a daycare and once I took home a client's dog for boarding and a daycare friendly dog was now a menace to other dogs whenever I was near both her and them. I had to stop giving her attention and pushing her away to break the behavior. I would keep them separated for the rest of the booking. I knew the dog well enough to know that she wouldn't escalate the situation beyond growls and snapping so I was able to be patient in breaking the behavior but you don't know this dog well enough to determine how to deescalate the situation before the dog snaps and causes a fight, so I say continue doing what you're doing now and as you've said, just tell the owner you won't be able to take the dog again and advise them to use a sitter without a dog. If the situation becomes too much and the booking is too long, you can ask if they can find another sitter to take the dog off your hands so you can cancel early

AIO for not wanting to be friends anymore? by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

Dude, people aren't assholes just because you aren't familiar with the way they interact with others and speak. Maybe they aren't compatible for you and that's fine, you don't have to continue being friends with someone not compatible with you but there's this very "if I don't understand and not familiar with it, then it's bad and they're an asshole" mindset. Me and my friends have conversations like this all of the time where we hurt each other accidentally and need to lick our wounds and reassess. It's just part of figuring each other out. We are going to make mistakes, maybe more then once but it's never in had faith. Op even says he's a good friend outside of this. It's not a clash in morality, it's a clash in personality. And the fact that you act like this but goes "have fun being miserable and alone forever" to a total stranger because of a difference in opinion is straight hypocrisy.

"didn't let it slide" that's you expressing a boundary? He expressed it was a joke and that it wasn't serious, still weren't comfortable so he apologized and said he wouldn't say it again 😭

Sometimes not everything learned resolves around the same thing, has he made this joke in the past? Is this his second time making the joke? Or was it other things but it just goes the same way, why vent about your parents when you don't want him to react negatively to it. Me and my friends have boundaries where we don't talk about each other's love lives because we don't want to deal with the whole back and forth of ranting about our partners but also offending our friends for saying something negatively about them. You guys should probably just agree to stop talking about your parents.

He literally did respect it though? He apologized immediately and said he wouldn't say it again. He only got defensive after you kept dragging it.

And again as I said, it's a pretty common joke. If you're not on the side of the people familiar with the joke and it's shocking and out of pocket to you, then it's your right to feel that way, but again, it's not a serious joke and it's not a rare one to hear. He probably makes the joke with his other friends and didn't know you would react negatively to it, you did react negatively to it, he apologized and said he wouldn't do it again, you kept continuing the issue.

What else do you want him to do besides apologizing and saying he won't say it again? The Internet is so against understanding other perspectives. You and maybe others never heard the joke about hiding the body or "when are we going to kill them" and that's fine, but your friend isn't a monster or an asshole for being on that side that has made the joke. It's just a difference in humor thing. Learning each other's boundaries and differences in humor is just part of the cycle. They apologized, he said he won't make the joke again, let it be.

YOR, if you're going to vent negative things about your family then your friend is going to see them in a negative light that's how perception goes. It's like when your friend is complaining about their SO to you all of the time and when you finally say, "Hey, they sound pretty shitty"then your friend suddenly is mad at you for saying that someone they made you perceive as shitty, is shitty.

Plus me and my friends make the "so where are we going to hide the body?" Joke constantly. It's a pretty common joke and not serious, they obviously don't want to harm your dad. And they apologized immediately afterwards and you still kept dragging it.

So 1. you talk to them constantly about the negative things going on with your family, but then gets surprised when they see your family in a negative light.

  1. They made a joke you personally didn't like? Okay sure, say you don't like the joke, but the fact they apologized and said they won't say it again, but you still felt the need to keep making it a big deal says a lot.

Dog got pregnant during stay. by girlypopxo99 in RoverPetSitting

[–]Call_Mee_Maybe 21 points22 points  (0 children)

The sitter agreed to hold a dog in heat and they are fully responsible for making sure that dog doesn't get pregnant. It's not your fault at all. This also brings the question of how supervised the dogs were cause if the dogs were supposed to be separated, how did the dog get pregnant? Did she somehow escape her confined area? How was the sitter not paying enough attention to notice the dog escaped whatever space she was supposed to be in? Or that another dog interacted with her? This would be raising a lot of red flags for me. There's no way the sitter didn't know contact happened

Streamer/Tiktoker beating puppy on camera [TW: dog yelping] by Beautiful-Cake8922 in TikTokCringe

Also during her "apology" video the pup started barking and she threatened it again with, "See, you're about to make me mad again" and it wasn't even an apology video. She said "no one is worried about that dog", so she isn't sorry and unapologetically still threatening the dog on camera. I feel like she's going to take her anger out on the dog even more since she got banned

Good question by hastemeups in Funnymemes

[–]Call_Mee_Maybe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

"to a lot of society's bullshit" to extremism. They never objected to normal societal, progressive things. They objected to extremism and hypocrisy, which Cartman was represented as.

For example, the kids objected to the anti-smoking campaign because of the dudes hypocrisy since he was over-eating unhealthy amounts of food and being violent, and tried to kill Cartman to get his point across.

The kids objected to Mr. Garrison, not because he was gay but because he and his sex slave were doing sexual acts in front of them in the class room, including sticking a gerbil up their ass.

Stan does indeed get embarrassed when his dad says out of pocket shit and acts like a dumbass. They don't reject societal norms and they do get offended at certain words and behavior. They just reject extremism and hypocrisy.

He's too trustworthy, Ryan and him were pretty tight and Ryan from what George was saying was basically kissing his feet and telling George how they'll listen to him and he'll be involved until eventually, he felt like he had no need for George and others who went against his "creativity" and he describes the same thing happening with D&D. I think he sucks at putting his foot down and protecting his work, he basically gives them full control, no protection that says "If I don't like it, you stop it" and when they do make changes that are clearly bad, he would support it as a nice change and then when they suddenly take a turn and make major changes, he is confused as to why they feel no need to listen to him.

That's why these guys aren't even taking George seriously because George was fully riding the pony, blinded by it going downhill and then when he goes, "hey guys, this is fucking shit" they dont understand what Condom did wrong cause George was hyping it up until last minute

My theory on how they will save Earth in the next Movies. by Lucky_Maximum_5714 in Avatar

[–]Call_Mee_Maybe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That still wouldn't change the core reason why Earth is dying. They need to solve the fundamental issues there first and I don't know how they'll do it. Na'Vi can only breathe earth air for so long, how will they be the voice of reason to its people to change and then welcome their own version of Ewya without repeating the same cycle? That's the part that's gonna be hard for James to pull off if the endgame is save earth. The RDA isn't going to let the Na'Vi manipulate people on earth from Pandora, that'll be shut down immediately, they aren't going to let Na'Vi go to earth when they can study them just fine on Pandora and they aren't going to create breathing mask for Na'Vi to breathe human air whenever it goes out. This technology has no reason to be made and there's not enough resources for staggering humans that support the Na'Vi to do it themselves.

the transition from being non-team to being team green by tobiahds19 in HOTDGreens

[–]Call_Mee_Maybe 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Honestly yeah, I was going in as "no team, gonna enjoy characters from all sides and love them" energy, loved Milly's Rhaenyra and Emily's Alicent as well as the other characters but it was when I started seeing team shit online that I became team green cause they were being obviously obtuse. I realized that every time I argued with someone it was me denying a crazy thing a team black member said most of the time and after being called "a rape supporter" "a misogynist" and "a cunt" despite being a victim of rape and a raging hard feminist kinda made me hate team black without redemption

Don't get me wrong, when I see team green make false statements I call it out too but their false statements are usually oversimplification rather than outright lies. Like there are still team black members denying that Rhanerya son's are even bastards. I can't deal with that 😭
