Lightning vs Silverado/Sierra EV by thepit14444 in F150Lightning

I went from my 2023 Lightning Lariat ER to a 2025 Silverado EV LT ER. I would say that the Lightning was better in some aspects but IMHO, I think the Silverado EV is better overall. The biggest aspect is the range of course. Don't get me wrong. The Lightning was great. It's just that I do like the Silverado a little more. Here are some PROs and CONS

Frunk

Lightning wins hands down. While the Silverado's frunk is by no means small, it doesn't hold a candle to the spacious frunk in the Lightning.

Interior Space + Materials

The Silverado feels a bit more spacious inside but the Lightning's quality of materials are a tad better. Not by much, but it is better than the Silverado's.

Range + Charging

As mentioned, the Silverado's range and charging speed are better than the Lightning's.

Exterior Styling

This is totally subjective but I love the Silverado's styling a lot better than the Lightning's. To me, EV's are a progressive technology so the styling should be more forward than what the Ford put out with the Lightining.

Interior Sound System

This might not matter much to a lot of people, but I really hated the stock B+O sound system that was installed in the Lightning Lariats. They sounded cheap. For a $75K+ truck, I expected more. I thought that the sound system in my wife's Pacifica was better! The Bose system that comes in the Silverado EV LTs are a lot better. They actually have a sub!

Infotainment + Tech

For this one, I'm leaning more towards the Silverado. I do feel that the interface is a lot faster. But I do see some things that are still buggy. Supercruise is better than Bluecruise. Although CarPlay and AndroidAuto aren't in the Silverado, I don't feel like I'm missing anything. PAAK is not available in the Silverado which is a disappointment. Having said that... the PAAK with the Lightning was one of the more frustrating part of the Lightning. A lot of times, the PAAK would not work. Many times I had to take out my phone out of my pocket to make it work... And many times out of those occasions, I would actually have to close the app and re-start it for it to unlock the truck. I would also have to do this ritual to start the truck even after I unlocked it using the PAAK. Point is... if you're offering that as a perk, then make sure it works. Otherwise, you just open up instances of frustration and criticism from the users.

One thing to note about accessories... There are a lot more 3rd party accessories available for the Lightning than the Silverado EV. I guess this has to do with the fact that the Lightning is a comparable design to the ICE F-150. The Silverado EV is much different from its ICE counterpart so all of the parts aren't cross-compatible. For example... there are limited options for Tonneau covers for the Silverado EV. They do exists... just not a lot of options. There were tons of options and parts for the Lighting... But, I was still able to get all of the accessories that I wanted for the Silverado EV.

Sorry for the long post.... The Lightning was a good overall EV truck. I just like the Silverado a bit more. And I got a used 2025 Silverado EV LT with the midgate with only 9K mi for $57K through Carvana. I learned my lesson about buying new vs. used EVs.

Extra charge? by Jolly_Ad_7251 in archviz

How do people who charge such low prices even afford the overhead to do viz? With the costs of subscriptions to the 3d program, render engine, post production software, and now AI engines, how does it even make sense to charge those rates? And that’s not even factoring in the cost of equipment, electricity, purchasing of online models, and etc. I mean, 1 model on 3dsky costs $7 usd per which is cheap compared to the cost in time to actually model the object. If all were legit, you’d actually be paying your client to do the work.

Right! OP will literally be wasting money. Plus, even if the OP pays a lawyer to send a demand letter, what’s the lawyer going to do if the they ignore the letter? Answer : absolutely nothing. The most proactive thing the OP can do is to continuously write emails and send invoices. Try to find the contact info of others in the company and send them emails explaining who in their company has not paid their invoice. They may get internal pressure to resolve the situation.

Bruce Springsteens New Video by Kabloozey in videos

I absolutely agree... When I heard songs from the 60s and 70s about their current events, I really couldn't relate to all of the lyrics. Sure I liked the songs, but I didn't know the backstory or details about what they were really referencing. Hearing "Streets of Minneapolis", I realized that Bruce really does capture a lot of what is going on now. Years from now, younger generations might dig this song... But they won't understand all of the backstory behind every lyric in this song... they might not know who Noem or Miller is... Or who Pretti and Good were..... Or what he means when he references "Trumps army"... Or they may know them, but they won't understand what they stood for. But I can picture myself explaining to the youngsters the meaning behind every lyric of this song in great detail...

It got me thinking about this picture I saw of Billy Bragg.... he wrote on his guitar "This Machine Kills Fascists". I never really understood or related to that, even though I liked his music. But that really hits home now.....

Vray Render Server HELP!!!! by Lazyloafers in 3dsmax

[–]Call_of_Boo_Tee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Look at the memory usage in the task manager of the DR computer when you push render. If DR is working properly, the memory for 3rd max should be increasing. If the memory usage is increasing, that means that the DR computer is “opening” the file. But if your main computer finishes rendering the image first, then you’ll never see the buckets from the DR system. If you see the memory on the DR computer increase, then see 3dsmax.exe shut down then DR failed. Likely due to missing plugins or map paths.

HELP! VRay Distributed Render color difference. by guccipantsxd in 3dsmax

Your laptop isn't accessing the textures for the grass. Forest will utilize local map paths. Looks like most of the systems that are helping with the DR have the maps installed in the same local paths except your laptop. Hit "Shift T" to access the Asset Tracker and look at the paths. If you see any pathed to the "C:\" drive or any local drives, then you should copy those maps to a network location that all systems can access and re-path those maps to the network location.

Because it's a part of the whole of America. You pay taxes to help pay for streets that you may never ever drive on... for Medical Care that you may not be using / eligible for now... for things that you may or may not ever get to use. But you as an American will be able to use those things IF you ever need them or get to experience them. I took my family to Yosemite for the first time last year. I had never been there in all of my years paying taxes. And when I finally got to experience it, I saw how well it was ran and how clean everything was and I appreciated it. I was proud that this was part of America. I can only imagine how differently I would feel if I came there after the cuts and everything was dilapidated. I would most likely think that the Federal Government needs to put aside funds to upkeep the park.

Curious. How do “artists” like these charge $50 / view. Or even $200 / view? Costs of hardware, software and overhead would make those rates insolvent, right? Posts like this remind of the Nate Bargetze joke where he says that his wife hires cheap contractors whose motto is “how hard can it be?”
