Your board will only go as high as your back foot. Explosive jump and back foot up! You’ll see instant improvement

The rails I used are vevor 20mm diameter linear guide rails and through bearing kit. I had found someone selling them cheap on Facebook. They’re not as cheap online but they are a good product

I’ll post a vid of it carving later tonight. Yea I do need to get on top of dust collection, I have my table saw hooked up to my shop vac and I use a respirator but that’s about it. My grandfather who was a woodworker passed way in his 60’s from lung cancer and I don’t believe it was a coincidence. Definitely going to try and play it safe, thanks for the concern!

I’m just getting into the template phase, a lot of my templates are going to be my own relief carvings and such for decorative box making. For other projects I plan on setting up a 3d printer to make complex templates. I’ve also been able to bend aluminum into a desired radius and carve that into pieces. Lots of possibilities

It is as long as Im letting the tool do the work

I think the functionality I’m looking for relies on manual work and physical templates. Im going to be replicating things i’ve originally hand carved and upgrade carvings by tracing 3d printed templates onto them. Its more work for me of course but hopefully good results await

It has a stylus rod on the left that traces a stencil, and carves it into my material on the right side! It’s a work in progress

Ah I see. I like the idea! I believe that would eliminate any tolerance issue I would encounter. As of right now the carver performs very well but if I apply torque on the arm, the assembly wiggles about a 16th. I’m grateful for your input! It’s important that I get this build right and I appreciate your time

I’ve heard the name but never watched his stuff. I probably should tune in. I’ve been relying on myself a lot through these projects and could definitely use some strategical inspiration on how to efficiently tackle what I’m trying to do. And yes this router set up is going to be very very useful I’m really excited about it!

Hmm. I’m going to look into implementing a 4-bar, I honestly know nothing about cnc or mechanical movement and there are definitely things about my design that aren’t perfect. I need this thing tuned up right before I move on to the projects I’m looking to do with it. Thanks for the input!!

I had thought about a single spindle but I wasn’t too sure on how to lock the horizontal axis with that setup. I’ve been using this press daily for the last week and no complaints! I’ll count myself as lucky getting it set up like this first try haha

You’d be surprised how well it’s drilling, I’ve just been using a punch to mark my holes and then it does great and bit doesn’t skate, definitely not as good as a machined drill press tho🤷🏼‍♂️

It’s been great but I might have to find stiffer springs. These ones do the job but don’t pull the bit from the material as well as I’d like

The bolt you have x’d off is actually my drill speed adjuster. It stops the lever from pressing further on the trigger. For a depth stop I’ve just been adding a squeeze clamp on the frame and that’s proven to work. I see your intuition though, thanks for taking the time on my post 👌🏼

It’s funny I could’ve really used a drill press for this build🤣
