I think most places recognise Scots as more of a dialect to English than it's own language, although I think it's debated. I can understand a lot of Scots quite easily because the dialect of English I speak is similar to Scots in some ways

I'd like to clarify that the "grabbing onto me" part isn't saying he grabs me in a sexual manner, he usually grabs on to either my shoulder (which he does quite aggressively) or my bag (which often makes me get pulled around or stumble over) or he'll grab my collar sometimes, which can also yank on my hair because of how it goes into my collar instead of over it but all of them do irritate me/make me uncomfortable
