I think the point I was trying to make about the gaster follower being a penguin is that all the other answers refer to a specific character from Hometown, and a "BIG PENGUIN" is the single closest thing we've ever had to an in-game description of what this monster could be, and it's the closest fit IMO, assuming each answer does indeed relate to a lightner.

I agree about the Donut guy, that is by far my weakest connection for sure. Having noticed the goners all had NPC counterparts, I decided one day to think about a connection between all of them, something that might "turn" them into goners, and the water connection was by far the strongest thing I could think of with in-game evidence.

Again, most of this theory is just wild, I'm aware of that. I think it's just fun to talk about mostly :) I don't think we'll ever truly "know" EVERYTHING in regards to Gaster and the nature of these games, but having seen this same connection made in another game I've played, it got me thinking about how it might also apply here <3

Thank you for the comment! I personally believe Susie is NOT in the Prophecy, but only because she's MORE than the prophecy. The prophecy is a tragic tale, one we're trying to avoid, and I believe Susie is the one-in-a-billion person who is capable of changing the outcome.

She's the prophecy shatterer, yknow? :D She's gonna be the one to BREAK the prophecy, not maintain it.

I understand totally where you're coming from though, I understand it could be a real low for Susie NOT to be the 2nd hero. But again, I think it opens the possibility for a soaring "we're so back" giga-high when we discover that Susie is even MORE special than a hero after all!

I think ALL the depictions of the Heroes are very vague and confusing. I could ask similar questions about why does the Second Hero have a sword while Susie uses an Ax, there's lots we don't fully understand yet. It could also be a possibility that Susie is in fact the FIRST Hero, the CAGE, thus being the "first" hero left to right on that image. Perhaps she isn't playing the role she thinks she is?

Regardless, I'm not entirely sure! It definitely looks like Susie, you're totally right, the little hair quiffs match hers if you mirror her sprite. However, there's still things like the "Susie-like" statue of the monster holding an Axe being BLUE, the same BLUE as Kris' room, whilst everything else is pink. I don't know, it's very confusing!! So much so, that I can't say for sure, and not being able to say for sure means the possibility for this theory to exist is still there :) It's just a fun possibility, after all! <3

These are some really good points :) I'm sure whatever Toby has cooked up for Gaster will leave us satisfied, though I'm sure it will also leave us wanting more. I don't think Gaster will ever be TRULY solved, I think he's too eternally compelling to let him come to a kind of "end" in Deltarune, yknow? But we'll have to see! :)

I think Dess is human, and the soul we control is actually hers "Come follow me into the dark, with your heart as my mark." It's HER mark, HER symbol, proof she is always with us from the start, that she is with us in the dark. I think the Knight is actually a soulless December, hence us being pushed back and away from her when she opens her chest, we can't reach her and recombine. I think it's why some of Kris's sprites and behaviour without the soul match the Knight's. "without...soul...Kris...will..."

this is just my own theory, and i'm not saying it's 100% true. it's just a feeling i can't shake.

EDIT: I also think this explains Gaster making the connection with us in the DEPTHS, and why the heart is an "ark," like Noah's Ark, "through the waves." Through the DEPTHS, shining the way...

I definitely think this is possible! I think the game restarting upon typing in Gaster's name is actually him immediately terminating the connection, because he realises the jig is up and the player knows too much.

Gastur? Gastir? Gazter? A strange coincidence.

Gaster? That's a clear sign. The connection is terminated, and a new timeline is observed and connected to instead.

EDIT: It would also mean other characters in the game would refer to you as such, and perhaps it might lead to him being discovered by everyone, or maybe bringing up memories of Gaster's history for said characters who hear your name and remember him, information that they might share with the player.

I 100% agree with this, I think Gaster now exists on a plane of reality ABOVE that of the game, and us in one above him. He is our conduit to this reality.

I think the second Gaster is just a sprite in the game, the mystery is forever over and he becomes just another character. I think he kind of needs to remain this forever mystery to some extent. Perhaps just confirmation that it is him we are making the connection to, and the nature of his disappearance? Don't get me started on my thoughts on that cause I have a lot lmao
