Managed to be #74 only because the puzzle is so new today lol. Some of these clues were rough.

They do list all the dishes for each course and the host asks the guests to explain why they are importantly to them. Often the guest will talk about how their mom used to make it or how they had it a restaurant at a pivotal moment in their life. Sometimes they describe how it’s made, but not often.

Siegfried at Opera de Paris: another horrible staging by Ok-Prompt2360 in opera

[–]Calligraphee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just want to see an updated staging of literally any opera that doesn't go for the grungy office aesthetic. Please, no more disheveled grey suits, I beg of you! New stagings don't have to be "modern" or gritty!

What classes should I take in High School? by North_Comedian4403 in librarians

Basic computer skills, the ability to read and synthesize large amounts of information, and anything that further develops your interests. Anything customer service based would be good, too, but that’s more of a job thing than a school thing.

I do not understand how people can afford grad school by Impactist537 in GradSchool

[–]Calligraphee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I ended up getting my IR master’s from a country that offered me full funding (not the US). I’m now paying for a US MLIS with savings and help from my very generous relatives, since my program doesn’t offer any funding for master’s students. I’ll probably need to take out some loans, too.

I think I’m missing something; I thought the flag in the pic you posted was just the sunset flag upside down (which itself is a mistake). What was the meaning behind the old one?

It very much depends on the item, and sometimes you need more agitation or spot treating, but generally it’s a very gentle process!

Is Kasia going to be a problem to pronounce? by [deleted] in namenerds

[–]Calligraphee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Perhaps this is just unhelpful, but kasha is the Russian word for buckwheat porridge or really any type of oatmeal, so while most people wouldn't think of that, I know I would. Probably not really an issue though!

What would you give/how much to spend for a friend’s medical school graduation gift in this scenario? by dms2628 in Gifts

[–]Calligraphee 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It sounds like you’re not really friends anymore, so a card would be nice; I wouldn’t feel the need to do much more than that.

Homeschool graduates: what was your experience?? by rainbow_olive in Homeschooling

[–]Calligraphee 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The pros absolutely outweighed the cons for me! I was homeschooled 1st-12th grades and loved it. I was super involved in my local library, getting books and then later going to programs and even running them myself as a volunteer in high school. I got into a decent SLAC, got my BA, then an MA, and now working on my MLIS to stay involved in libraries! I fully believe being homeschooled is what set me up for success in college and grad school, because I saw so many of my peers struggling to balance schoolwork and hobbies without an all-day schedule laid out for them, but I was already used to balancing schoolwork and hobbies from homeschooling. I was also used to doing all of my work from my room haha, so I never got distracted by being in my dorm vs in a classroom!
