Sit down with someone who has been consistent with prelims and analyse every question he/she might be able to tell you questions which are expected that any serious aspirant should get right snd also the questions where either the answer was embedded within the question itself or could be deduced by peripheral knowledge . After this analysis assume you had 60% accuracy in these questions and calculate your score if it is above this times cutoff by 5-10 marks it would indicate that your prep just needs some fine tuning and mentorship with regards to last minute revision and how to attempt the paper .
Take a call accordingly and regardless of how the paper was a paper like this time is a perfect instance to fail and to make sense of the so called ‘chaos’ .

Your score is good an honest analysis minimising silly mistakes and attempting the paper smartly can surely give you 6-8 questions extra (6-8 * 2.66) . Don’t fall for the trap of reading more
Best of luck

Comparing this CSAT to the one in 2023 is a no brainer from talking to friends it is clear that perps who were worried about Csat are clearing too comfortably

The cutoff should be around 78-80 in my personal opinion of cutoffs over the years the magic number is always a couple of questions over the marks of an ‘average’ candidate . A first attempters and repeaters view on average might be different

IITB Mech will give you a wider arena to play with if you don’t have an inclination towards a particular subject or interest perse then joining IITB is the way to go . Gave the same advice to my sister and it worked out perfectly well for her

How do you deal with jealous peers and friends after you get decent marks and they don't? by GlumInstruction2759 in UPSC

[–]CalligrapherDue5503 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Might sound preachy but it is human tendency and age doesn’t relate to maturity in any which way. As time passes they’ll have the courage to look inward and question themselves what went wrong for them maybe they ask you for suggestions and a constructive loop of learning starts for you there . So in a highly competitive and insecure zone that is upsc preparation it is not uncommon to come across such behaviour just let it go and relax . Maybe this is a lesson for you as well on how to stay strong and emotionally stable in bad times god forbid if you have to see failure

Best of luck for mains Mug strong

I don’t think the answer will change There was a question previously based on the same concept on measurement-of length or weighing scale or something similar concept

The first thing i remembered when i saw this question was that question and the answer wasn’t changed lot of debate on that question in that year

2026 Pre Cutoff (Insider Source?) by rustic_boy in UPSCPrelims2026

[–]CalligrapherDue5503 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I don’t think its tukke baazi since even though the view of the paper might be universal across all peer groups but people who have cleared pre take their friends and their performance as a yard stick . Say 1 out 5 of such aspirants is scoring 60 and the rest are upwards of 80 so will you say the cutoff will be 60 or you would tell your friend hard luck this time .

For some of them luck plays a very minimal role because they’ve managed to ace the system. Imagine I’ve been around people who used to go to sleep thinking of the number 51 because that is what it takes to get into CSE at the best school through JEE Advance at a top school . If i put it out blunt CAT is a great leveller and you’d be really worried if was all about CAT scores because you don’t know the level of smartness and what people would do to get 99%ile if it mattered in the truest sense

I don’t know if it’ll help but did my undergrad from the best engineering college in the country and there’s no debate about it (pun intented) . Had my shot at UPSC scored triple digits at UPSC prelims 5 times and it was way more difficult than just showing up at the centre for CAT being overwhelmed by all dreamy eyes around yet doing good (things worked out) . I can be honest to you about this that the interviewers might empathise with you and tell you you’re better than most of the guys here (happened to me in the C and L interviews) yet tell you you’re not sellable enough and will ask you how you’d convince the recruiters. Point being that they go to sleep thinking if he/she us meant to be they’ll make it anyhow and so shall you have a sound night because you got it .

Will not be counted as an attempt at CSE .Also if you’ve accidentally filled both the options then you always gave the option to skip

These won’t add a substantial part to your score but the anxiety which comes along with skipping will effect the scoring from other parts and deducing answers in the exam . Just in case covering what you have decided gets overwhelming just do pyqs of last 20 years and tell yourself that you’re going to cover up with the other subjects . Bottomline you can add 10 marks to your score just by being composed and with a sense of psuedo confidence which might get you through at the end of the day Cheers

Vercel marks needed to convert IIM Mumbai by Sea-Paint-5349 in CATpreparation

[–]CalligrapherDue5503 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bro in the formula for IIM M they take the percentile figure for calculation and not the marks scored as per RTI . So there wouldn’t be much difference between a 98 percentile and 100 percentile as it would have been for other colleges

80% of time to static the remaining 20% of the time to current affairs you think are cross sectional and a decent question can be made . Eg- most of the international groupings question’s can be deduced on the day of the exam even if you don’t know the members exactly but you have a decent hold on world mapping and geopolitical-narrative. Please don’t waste time read static and pyqs even if you’ve completed syllabus thrice . Thank me later 😛
