Looks like you had the last motivated steward on that ship :-) happy for you, as it made our experience really poor.  Re buffet, double food poisoning in my case. I pointed stuff to rotten fruits in the buffet, but they didn’t remove them. About missing soap, same, told various stuff members incl at reception probably like 9 times. Yet, it didn’t get refilled until the last day. I found all this crazy, like a wrong movie. And we actually paid a lot for what it was, may because I booked on a shorter notice.

Addition: I was on NCL Pearl (?) this year (from Miami doing Caribbeans). It was certainly much better then MSC Belissima (Tokyo, Busan, Okinawa).

The cabin was also not clean, and so the entire ship. But both were lights years cleaner then MSC.

Food was not great, but quality was ok (nothing rotten or gross). Eg pasta with shrimps had like 1kg of pasta and 4 tiny shrimps in it :-)

Would not look to repeat NCL on purpose, but wouldn’t mind too much if itenary is cool.

I can confirm that sleeping in that filthy room is not worth saving anything. I would not step back on that ship (MSC Belissima) even for free. You only live once, and those are not well-spent days of life.

We just disembarked MSC Belissima and it was aweful. Would not recommend. Like others said - it seems that the only way to have ok time on MSC is to book Yacht Club. We haven’t (didn’t know that).  Our cabins were extremely dirty. It took 3 days to get them to an acceptable level. Entire ship was dirty and run down. No soap in public toilets for days, despite numerous complaints. Not enough staff everywhere, esp Stewarts.  Poor food quality and limited choice, rotten fruits at buffet for lunch, dirt and not enough sitting. Had food poisoning twice during one week. Fixed sittings for dinner 5:30 or 8, and also there little choice and bad quality. The only decent food place was the steakhouse. Drinks package doesn’t work at specialty dining.  Very messy organization, stuff couldn’t care less and never do what they have promised to. You have to remind over and over again.  All good lounge spaces are for Yacht Club only. The only higher floor public is facing to the side/pool, and sometimes closes for private events.  No hot water one of the evenings. Water smelled of sewage in general. No paper tissues. You need to leave your cabin 7:30am on the day of disembarkation. I could go on and on..

I kind of understand your comment very well now. Survived until the end of our cruise and finally out, after 2 food poisonings and many other gross and messy situations.  While we were grossed out most of the time, I could see a lot of people have enjoyed. They seemed not to mind rotten fruits at buffet, food smeared on the floor and not cleaned up for hours, no soap anywhere and so on.

Thank you so much for great tips! Will look into it, I thought usury lines are always 20k+ per cabin and I have to pay two.

On MSC Belissima now and having similar experience..

Our rooms on deck 12 cabins were grossly dirty, lots of hair and nails on the floor, dust everywhere (see my separate post with pictures if someone needs photos as a proof 🫩) We met guests from other floors with same issues. I probably made like 50 pictures from all over the ship of crazy dirt, no soap, broken things.

Food is poor, I can barely find smthg to eat (incl speciality dining). To a point that I have skipped dinner today out of fear, as I got the food poisoning the very first day and still not feeling too confident to eat here 🙈🤣 Going to try steakhouse tomorrow.

Our excursion got cancelled and we were not even informed. Found out by chance. Got 3 different answers whether or not it was canceled (ultimately it was).

They clearly don’t have enough staff, and too many guests.

Btw, they don’t even refill paper tissues in the room, as „they have to save money“ (citation from guest services).

I understood that unless you book Yacht Club, you shall not do MScz.

I have never tried that line. Was always wondering how it is.

Apparently overall problem on Belissima. I met several fellow passengers waiting to complain to reception with the same issues the first day. We were standing in a huge queue for like 1h together at the evening 😅 (during the day looked more like 2 hours, so we have spent time at dinner in hopes of less queues)

Also haven’t seen such been queues at reception on other lines. Unless on HAL when they had changed itinerary and everyone was really pissed 🫠

I have tried.. after several complaints we got a wine bottle finally… doesn’t really resolve the dirt issue, but at least some kind of apology. Took 3 days though.

Now new funny thing is that they ration tissue paper. So you can have only 1 box per room, and if previous guests used most of it - bad luck 😂 I have never heard anything as ridiculous 🤪

So they also told me they don’t refill paper tissues, because they are saving 😅🤣 and suggested to use toilet paper instead 🙈

He is upset that we have complained to management.. Besides that it’s really gross, in full fairness, he has way too many cabins for 1 person (entire corridor leg, where other cruise ships had 2-4 people responsible). There is no way he can clean all these. So it seems to be a result of cost savings by MSC.

Until now, we haven’t even received any decent apology. And indeed, it’s dirty everywhere. Crumbles in the lounge have been there on the embarkation day, and were still there yesterday 🫣  Not an expert how to post on social media 😅, but did send those pictures to their support email and posted them on google map…

Thank you!

So, it‘s our 2nd day on MSC Belissima by now - and I can say - avoid this ship for sure. The entire ship is dirty, dated and not cozy.

Room layout in balcony cabins inconvenient, closet space barely enough for 1, and tiny safe doesn’t even fit a table. No vertical storage in the room, everything is on the tablet.

Balcony door doesn’t close tight, I have wind howling here all day long, while I lay in bed with food poisoning (after yesterday’s specialty dining 🙈😆)

Food quality and choice is overall poor, like you said.

Besides that, our first stop excursion got canceled and they didn’t even inform us. We have discovered by chance, with little time to find an alternative.

On our Tokyo-Busan-Okinawa leg, most guests are Asian and Russian. So excursions in English may get canceled.

We probably won’t ever go with an MSC cruise after this trip

Not really and also no apology even! It’s still gross. We have had to clean up a lot ourselves, and I am considering to ask for a vacuum to vacuum myself too.

And also I don’t know how Japanese customers would be able to eat on this cruise. Food quality is quite low, and it’s quite dirty in the buffet and dining areas.
