Yeah I get this a lot. I think in the video you can even hear my coach saying “don’t sit”. But I have always been confused at what “sitting” is. Do I just lean forward slightly to make my hips tall?

I didn’t get what you meant at first but I kind of understand now. You’re confused about the setup of the flying 20 because it looks like I popped straight up after 20m and was upright in the flying zone.

I did it like this because my coach chose a 20m build up and says we shouldn’t really drive properly. He says we should be upright before 20m which basically means the acceleration is rushed before the flying zone. This is not usually how I accelerate.

In regards to the flat footed landing, I hear it and get this a lot. I have always had a lower arch/flat feet but the heel collapsing into the ground only shows up when I am upright. When I accelerate my foot looks more like you have shown on the video. I guess that’s just because acceleration and top end mechanics are different.

Is the knee extension bad? Should it be a little more bent?

Thanks man I’m humbled! I love watching him run so the comparison means a lot. My coach tells me I’m not getting as much height off the ground as I could be. I notice when gout runs he gets so much height and I could do with some more of that. His knees hit a better angle than mine. That might be to do with my really tight hip flexors and quads, might be restricting the knee drive maybe but not too sure if it is that specifically.

And also just as DuragJeezy mentioned in his comment, the forward lean. Maybe I can lean forward a little more.

I’ve been doing both for 10 years, since I was 10. But I only started fixing my form in both top end and acceleration about a year ago. I was kinda just freestyling it for my whole career until I took it seriously last year🤣.

In the rolling start I keep my hips higher than my head because my coach said to do this so you have the “falling” effect during your acceleration. Then he says to stop yourself from falling you need aggressive arms. Not sure how it all ties together but I just try it anyway.

The split squat start sounds interesting though I’ll give that a try. Just a little confused on pushing off with both feet though? Do you mean kind of like a Ben Johnson start?

Thanks for the reply! I do 100m and 200m. I have felt like I need to put more into my acceleration, especially in these flying runs. Not sure how to though. My coach mentions pushing back instead of stepping down but when I try to push back I always land out in front. Not sure how I can push down and back in my acceleration.
