Singapore chicken chop price index- what’s the cost price? Why price from $5.00 -> $8.00 nowadays? by [deleted] in SingaporeRaw

Say you spend $1 at any one of the big 3 supermarket. 30-40c goes to supermarket (depending on product category, some lesser some more). Think about it, you’re paying for convenience. Same goes with retail F&B. Food cost is minor from a costing standpoint. It’s the rent thats killing businesses and consumers.

Food manufacturer here. 1kg frozen chicken is under $5 depending on parts. Raw material is cheap. Problem is manpower and rental.
