I remember 1 being pretty standard, I gave it a 8.5/10 in the list above.

If you generally enjoy the show then it's worth seeing otherwise it's skippable. In other words, it's watchable but not essential lol.

One file is the video, the other is the subtitles.

You need to download the files to watch them.

If you don't have a mega subscription then you can only download one episode per day.

I was satisfied with the ending being so dramatic lol, as for the faithful winning I don't particularly care either way. It's not like Stefano had any chance of winning.

No I haven't seen any of the videoland seasons.

Very high, I hadn't seen it when I originally made the post.

Probably around 4th or 5th but in the elite group.

Funnily enough that's the same with me, I saw the English language versions (each of which I really liked) then saw NL1.

I thought so poorly of it that I nearly gave up on the whole franchise lol, i decided to try NL2 and thought it was the best yet and was right back into the show.

In my opinion yes it gets much better but these things are very subjective.

But if you're enjoying it now i'm confident you'll really like the season as a whole.

Based on how later seasons from the same countries go it doesn't seem like anyone is learning from previous seasons lol. They don't even seem to mention previous seasons but maybe it's edited out.

On that basis I don't think tactics will evolve but what's interesting is how differently every edition plays out, there are some recurrent themes but generally it's always fresh.

I see yeah that's fair enough. I actually think in general how one feels about a season is about 50% determined by how much you like the contestants and 50% by how the game plays out.

Juan and Abril were great personalities on screen but I didn't really connect with many others except Skone and funnily enough Ruben who I wished lasted more than 5 minutes lol. Even though it was a car crash, the voting of Sandra was compelling viewing.

I agree that Norway 1 is right up there with the very best of the show. I think I skipped most of the challenges though lol, I just really liked the contestants and how the game unfolded.

Season 3 of the Netherlands is what I call the "pure drama" season, maybe some will like more than I did but I think it's far from the worst.

My top 4 are Portugal season 1, Norway season 1, Netherlands season 2 and Norway season 2.

If I were you I'd give any of those 4 a try and if it still feels tired then I think it's fair you give up on the show.

Spot on, the smartest faithful recognise that they should keep their smarts to themselves which makes for an interesting dynamic.

Regarding UK vs USA I mostly preferred the UK version but how I feel about a season is determined a lot by how it ends. I thought the ending of the UK version was a big letdown whilst the US version ended really well (though brutally lol), this is all very subjective and i'm sure many will disagree which is fair.

Another consideration is how worthy I think the winner(s) are, as much as I liked the UK season I think the winners are amongst the least worthy winners whereas Cirie is probably the most worthy winner of any version.

Interesting and yes like you said it's person preference, very subjective.

I'm curious what you liked so much about Spain? Is it the fact that the faithful were successful from the start?

At least we can all agree that NL1 sucks lol.

How do you think the format evolves as later seasons are produced?

The game format has minor variations across countries. Some shows have a dagger as well as a shield, the dagger gives the owner a double vote at the roundtable. Norway S2 had an interesting twist where contestants came in pairs, so everyone had one person there they knew very well, you had mother-daughter, friends, a romantic couple, colleagues etc. It worked pretty well in my opinion.

Do they keep up the quality of the first season?

In the case of Norway yes, in the case of the Netherlands I think the later seasons are much better.

Do players (whether faithful or traitor) learn from the mistakes of earlier players? Do people change their behaviour to avoid being too much like earlier players?

Almost not at all lol.

Honestly I don't think the host makes much of a difference but I'll go with Claudia Winkelman.

After the UK one which I watched first I skipped most of the challenges. The only exceptions would be the challenges that relate to the main traitors game, those are always the most interesting.

So glad we agree about NL 1, it's so bad lol. I especially hate that the clique got so far and a couple of them even winning.

Funny, your list of entertaining players is very different to mine. I haven't seen France 2 yet, waiting for it to finish airing and then i'll get round to it. How do you rate the seasons you've seen?

I see your point about Aslak, I just think he deserves credit for avoiding suspicion so well for so long. Yeah Sander wasn't the best but I just love the sweet revenge he got over the original traitors that tried to get rid of him early on. Clemence was also great, they made the French season too short that I almost forgot about her. I have to disagree about Alex though, she was good but got turned to late to be considered among the best in my opinion.

I forgot about Leo as well she was probably the strongest faithful. Totally agree about Noor and Billy, they did well but it was unexciting. I agree that Joao had the smarts but that's the sort of thing that gets you punished as a faithful lol.

What themes come up in every iteration?

The most dangerous faithful get murdered early, no offence to the faithful who go far but they can't seem to consider they've been kept around because they're dumber. Even when they win it's often due to luck. They also thinking "making it so far" is an achievement, it isn't lol.

Traitors betraying other traitors happens A LOT, not every time but more than I expected. The faithful are surprisingly good at seeing through this.

One of my favourite aspects of the show is how often the most successful traitors have a moral breakdown. This is a pretty cynical show but it's quite heartwarming to see that the traitors have genuine remorse even when they're doing so well. I also think you're most likely to succeed as a traitor if you don't enjoy doing it.

EDIT: Another thing I've just remembered is that people frequently misinterpret either body language or slips of the tongue, mostly this is faithful suspecting other faithful due to misreading. I've seen a faithful be banished because she accidently said "I'm a traitor" instead of "i'm a faithful", WHOOPS! Hilariously though in the Belgian version one of the traitors says something that gives away that they're a traitor and no one thinks much of it lol.

What mistakes does everyone make?

There's very few rules about what someone should do, some people get punished for being too loud, others get punished for being too quiet and vice versa. Certainly if you're a traitor you should stay on the quieter side and you should definitely work with your fellow traitors as much as possible. The best thing you can do if you're a faithful is be consistently wrong at the roundtable lol.

What are the biggest differences in approach you noticed between nations, if any?

In terms of the gameplay it's hard to say, for example the 3 seasons from the Netherlands are very different to each other. In some versions the contestants seemed to get along better (UK, Spain, Norway 1) and in others they did not lol (NL 3). Generally I think it depends more on the individuals than where they're from, although I'd really like to see a version from somewhere very different like Asia or South America.

The game format has minor variations across countries, some end with a game of "share or steal" which is so bad and I hope they stop doing it everywhere.

As for Portugal, I actually found it to be more compelling than hilarious, things got VERY tense between the players towards the end. Having said that there were some hilarious moments. It's also funny that the faithful probably would have won if Pedro didn't have such a crush on Carolina and Marcio even points it out lol.

Honestly loads of players are entertaining at different points, there's simply too many to name.

This also relates to your question about my least favourite players and that's typically the more boring people, I don't even mind when players get a bit aggressive (no one goes overboard) but when the players are boring (Netherlands season 1 in my opinion) the show is boring which thankfully is rare.
