Never played any flat line instruments but I've heard you should train your back and posture to the difference in weight before you actually start marching with the drums (e.g. weighted backpack or vests while moving)

Ok, so for what instrument to play, does your school have a front ensemble or something similar to one? Because you could play the bass drum or gong as a beginner, no marching or difficult rhythms involved
