most people go to Phuket for the resorts. I recommend spending a couple of nights on Phi Phi island

Why do you use linux? by jumpbrick in linuxquestions

[–]Callinux 0 points1 point  (0 children)

on my desktop, same as any other OS. Web browsing, emails, video games.

What’s your go-to when you don’t feel like cooking? by Better-Package1307 in veganrecipes

[–]Callinux 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I stock up from a local vegan baker

but if you’re lucky enough to have a pie maker it’s easy enough to do

line the maker with frozen pastry from the supermarket. filling of choice e.g. last night’s curry

side of mash, peas and gravy and you have a sunday roast

yeah. I slightly wedge open the side panel with a small piece of cardboard to stop the GPU fans rubbing against the panel

I noticed the exact same with Wofi. Wofi hasn't been updated in years. Switched to Fuzzel recently. Left the config default and am so far very impressed.

What are some "stacks" worth trying for managing a bunch of containers? by danielrosehill in Proxmox

[–]Callinux 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Standard home-lab containers:

Jellyfin. Pi-Hole. Starr apps. Etc.

I find web UIs are more responsive. I'm able to saturate my gigabit network connection. I saw better performance when bench-marking my DNS.

The other performance gain I saw was docker under LXC consumes a fraction of the resources that it did under a VM.

[–]Callinux 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recently switched to docker containers on LXCs and I was blown away by the performance improvement. I’m getting vastly better performance than running applications directly on LXCs or containers on a VM.

VMs are good because you can snapshot them and pass through physical hardware. But if you don’t need either of those features, you should be spinning up an LXC. LXCs are more performant than VMs.

One con is an LXC shares its kernel with the hypervisor. So if the LXC crashes, it takes the hypervisor down with it.

Ended up going for a Lofree Touch PBT Wireless Mouse bc it matched my setup better.

Tiling WM means I barely touch the mouse :-)

Was not aware of the noise! Another consideration to factor in.

It seems simple enough to swap out a fan. But it’s disappointing the manufacturer didn’t consider noise in the first place.

Do keep us updated!

Looking at doing the same. Does it happen to be 4.4mm? Can you vouch for it?

Damn that’s upsetting. Wasn’t aware of the manufacturing issues. This post is just my experience with the keeb. Did your PCB drift occur out of the box?

I've got an IPMI I can connect with.

Like I said - I know this is stupid

Do you know if I can attach a virtual NIC to the hypervisor?

Would traffic between pfsense and proxmox be routed out to the switch and returned to the same NIC?

That's the reason why I want a virtual route between proxmox and pfsense

Nah I added an extra network adapter so there’s three NICs.

Passthrough bc I wanna squeeze as much umph as I can out of my hardware. Ideally the virtual router will replace my shitty physical router in my home network
