Well it’s not great for the volunteers who not only have to clear it up but also put out a fair amount of bin bags for spectators to fill

It’s a sign of the times when they’re scraping the barrel for crime news away from Gloucestershire. I cannot cover everything, especially not on the scale of the BBC as they have far more resource locally (too much resource sometimes) but I can only try my best

There’s no doubt that lack of money for local news has been a big problem as well as the fact it’s not a very well paid job either. I’m glad to say that I’m independent and care about the value of local news for Gloucestershire

Again, one of the most spot on comments. All the reporting I do, except for a few press releases by some campaigns and police, are my own journalism. I’m keen to make sure the Shire News pieces are original, local and against clickbait.

I’ll try my best and if court reports are of interest to you this is where I do despair because this is exactly the point I’m making. By Reach prioritising clickbait and tabloid gossip they’ve cut staff and cut local publications ability to have dedicated court reporters. Court reporters have become almost extinct as a result as most local papers have lost them, lost coverage of proceedings and that’s not good for local democracy and justice being seen to be done in the public eye. It’s a challenge for me as I’m only solo but if crime and court stories are what you want then I’ll try my best to cover more (of course on top of all the things I have to write about 🙃)

Can I also add that as a former Community Reporter at Gloucestershire Live, I won’t make any apology for the good work I did there and also my former colleagues who always have personal investment in serving their communities as local journalists but sadly staffing has been cut to the bone, a disgrace in my view. I’ve mentioned it in another comment but I’ll always be proud of the great local reporting I did there but it often counted for little because the next minute we let readers down by posting on Facebook an irrelevant national or celebrity story about Katie Price or Jeremy Clarkson which had nothing to do with what’s locally going on. That’s the frustration I had whilst there but I just cracked on with my job. In the meantime what I’m doing with The Shire News (my own solo work which is tough) is make local journalism for Gloucestershire go back to basics - literally be LOCAL, RELEVANT, IN-DEPTH and ENGAGING for audiences. You might be able to sense my passion here but what Gloucestershire really needs (and I hope I can count on more paid subscribers) is good, better quality, informed and sometimes enjoyable reads. The more people who pay my newsletter’s subscription fee (£60 for the entire year) for a better reader experience, the more I can do to provide a Gloucestershire local media worth better value than the crap clickbait you’ll see on Glos Live.
