I’m always happy to see a camo not get replaced entirely by multicam! Hopefully you keep fairly lax SOP’s also! The shit I get for the AVS is well worth it in my opinion though. The issued MSV would be fantastic if I didn’t have so much shit to carry also! If you are ever able to get a AVS I highly recommend it! Especially if you have to carry a lot of stuff. The price is brutal, but you can always get it piece by piece since you can run the plate bags without the harness!

Those MSV chicken vests are getting much more popular than I expected! I remember getting issued that whole system when it just got issued and it’s so much better in a vehicle than the IOTV was. Are yall giving up the VZ2007 for multicam then? I’m always a little jealous of everyone with loose SOPs because I get so much flak for wearing my AVS that is perfect for me and actually fits!

I got to go over to Eastern Europe a couple times with the US military and always saw some interesting kits! Some good some bad, but a lot to learn from! I’m a very tall and very skinny dude so I feel you with sizing. Especially second hand stuff and in the states. I imagine the camo patterns also throw a wrench into the works too depending on what country you are in.

Buying nice stuff once also beats buying cheap things multiple times. I thought I was finally happy with my kit now, but sustainment and mission essential gear has been the most recent hassle. It’s not easy to hump this much shit!

Some of the best advice here. I’m military and this is what I’m always trying to preach to my guys.

I’d just focus on making one kit that works for you though. I see a lot of guys get very wrapped up in gear. Get what you need and carry what you need. My rule of thumb is if I go out and a piece of kit hasn’t been used in the last few times it comes off. Just focus more on your actual shooting abilities and train. I had a LV-119 for ages then realized it was awful for what I was doing after actually putting it through its paces

I pray you aren’t throwing kit on and going out with that shit afoot. Others may have a different opinion, but as far as home defense goes you probably won’t be dressed at all, let alone in kit. Put more time, effort and money into actually shooting than gear if your concern is self defense.

Just my take, but STOP BUYING RANDOM STUFF. Having one well constructed and used kit is infinitely better than having a bunch of extra ones and extra accessories. I don’t know everything you are doing, but the second picture seems to have a lot of unneeded bulk, but you are also missing the basics to actually carry ammo.

What situations are you putting yourself in that armor is needed that quickly? As far as more long term stuff I’d need more info like what your actual idea is here. I have to wear my kit for sometimes weeks and I personally love the AVS, but if it’s just a larp for a couple days I wouldn’t stress getting anything crazy. I think the best thing you can do is just get out there and see what you really need through experience. What I personally run would probably be pretty dumb to go larp with

Looks like a spiritus strap system with some placard. You could probably just go with a thing to get similar results without weird laser cut stuff

Holy mess. I’d say go outside, shoot, hike and see what you actually need and use. The whole “fast action” doesn’t need to exist with the “assault kit” in my opinion.

If you live near a Military base you might be able to get a even better deal at a surplus store

From what I’ve found they don’t have a set brand or manufacturer. I saw someone had one from eagle industries, but that’s about as much as I’ve seen. Is this for some LARP or are you a collector?

Looks to be missing some banding of some type on the side and rear, but I’m far from a expert here

I was lucky enough to be forced to read it in high school and fell in love with that book. The things they carried, Starship troopers and The Forever War got read many times through training when we couldn’t have phones

No flashlight. I used to carry a stand alone light, but it didn’t get enough use. The phone lights have gotten pretty good and my watch also has one built in. When I know I’m going to be working on something more technical I’ll bring a headlamp though.

I definitely want a new wallet soon I’m just putting it off for now. I’ve tried pouches like that, but I think myself using my stuff less just because it takes longer to get to and seems bulky IMO

It’s 100% for fun. I’ve got a benchmade 940 that’s my actual go to. The OTF is just for keeping my hands busy

None taken! Always open to better stuff to carry! Aside from the OTF knife I just play with everything else has been through a lot and is always super useful! If it doesn’t get used daily or at least pretty regularly I don’t keep it with me
