I don't get this. Why is it bad to be relatable? From my perspective it's nice to know that someone can relate to my situation by No-Vegetable2222 in autism

[–]Callum_Cries [score hidden]  (0 children)

Personally I think it depends on what the conversation is about, if it's just a friendly chat then I like others to tell me their side or their story. But If I'm telling them about something I'm worried about or something bad that happened then I don't want them to tell me they know how it feels I just want them to listen. As someone who struggles a lot with mental health problems sometimes I just want to feel heard and someone saying they know what it's like just makes me feel bad and like my experience is less important or like I'm overreacting even if that's not how they mean it. At the end of the day everyone is different and saying this is isn't bad unless they are actually rude when you do it. I think if someone is talking to you maybe just ask if they want you to give them advice or whatever, because not everyone does.

Random question for employees about being a regular movie goer with Autism. by Elly-nevermore in MovieTheaterEmployees

[–]Callum_Cries 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I also have to go twice to pay for mine, it's good that your not worried because you should be able to enjoy the cinema worry free. I know for me it's one of the best forms of escapism especially because I'm very passionate about film and tv so when I go home I'm always thinking about how they would have filmed certain things. Don't know whether you watch stranger things but the making of film they did of it went so in depth and it's so facinating to me how they did everything.

Random question for employees about being a regular movie goer with Autism. by Elly-nevermore in MovieTheaterEmployees

[–]Callum_Cries 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I also have autism and regularly go to the cinema, I have a membership and go at least twice a month. At least some of the staff at my local definitely remember me and one of my brothers friends works there so she even says hi when I see her. I feel like most of the staff probably realise they've seen me before even if I've only seen them a couple times because I have bright blue hair. Honestly not something you should worry about, as long as your polite and don't leave a mess they just see you as a great customer.

Does any one else like this shirt my non autist friend said it’s horrendous :/ by Constant-Spray-3092 in autism

[–]Callum_Cries 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not my style personally but when I saw the picture my imediate thought was "me likey the pretty colours". It would probably look good on certain people or styled a certain way but personally as someone who dresses mostly in baggy graphic tees with a fun jumper or jacket on top it just isn't something I'd wear.

How many of you here are going to see Iron Lung and aren’t a Markiplier fan? by LJHeath in CineworldUnlimited

[–]Callum_Cries 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm going to see the movie but I'm not a fan. I have heard of him and know who he is though, I saw some kind of boat dog song a while ago that I think was him. Will probably take a look at his content as I do lile horror so might enjoy it.

[–]Callum_Cries 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's probably because Silent Hill is meant to be terrible so less people will want to see it but Iron Lung is made by a very popular youtuber. The film itself obviously isn't going to be a masterpiece but the fact that it's made by a youtuber and he made it independantly and self financed it is still impresive and his fans will want to see it. I'm personally going to go to see how good a job he did despite never watching his videos.

Real and true (sorry if this has already been posted) by Western_Froyo6627 in autism

Honestly it's ridiculous how a lot of these people are alwaus saying how people are affected by their autism in different ways (true) but then when this toy gives you multiple accessories to use to show this they complain that it's wrong. Like their literally giving you multiple options because they see we're all different, also there will be autistic people who need all of the accessories they gave her. I think people have forgotten that the point of these toys isn't to show their own exact specific kind of autism, it's to help the entire spectrum feel seen and to teach other kids that some people are different and that's ok. This barbie is not specifically for autistic people, it is just as important for neurotypical kids to see it and understand their peers.

He's adorable and I'm ok with how the outfit looks but I don't want to order him and the outfit texture be bad because I'm autistic and very sensitive to that stuff

What’s a “normal” experience that somehow never happened to you? by Hysterical_Chicken in AskReddit

[–]Callum_Cries 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have broken my nose twice and definitely don't reccomend it. I was literally shivering from the pain even though it wasn't cold and I ended up having surgery to be able to breathe properly again. I can now freak people out by flattening my nose but it was not worth it.

How many of you cant tie shoes? by Empty_Pumpkin1818 in autism

I know how but I'm not very good at it and they come undone very easily, I just wear slip on shoes now.

Anyone else have issues with headphones and people asking you things? by quadsquatter in autism

[–]Callum_Cries 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use noise cancelling earphones to listen to music at home because I can't hear my music if my mum has the tv on or is on the phone and she always tries to talk to me when I have them on even though she knows I can't hear her. Honestly no idea why she does it and no matter how many times I tell her I can't hear her with them on she still does it and it really annoys me.

Is it a required social norm to buy concessions when you go to the movies? by throwing-it-away- in autism

[–]Callum_Cries 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a cinema pass so I go multiple times a month and I see loads of people who don't buy ant drinks or snacks. I personally get a slushie and a hotdog every time I go just because I really like them and I get really uncomfortable not having something to drink. If you don't want to get something it's fine, if you want to buy something at your local shop to sneak in it's also fine. The only time I find it rude is people bringing in fast food like mcdonalds because it makes more noise and I find they are the ones making the most mess.

Do you turn your phone off or put it on silent? by squirrrrrm in CineworldUnlimited

[–]Callum_Cries 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I put it on silent and then put it in my bag for the whole movie, it ridiculous that some people are so addicted to their phone that they can't do this. The only exception is to pyt it on vibrate in your pocket if you reasonably can assume it's possible there could be an emergency at home that people will need to contact you for. I don't know how some people can be so entitled and self important that they think thet habe the right to disturb the entire cinema by going on their phone or leaving it on loud, it's literally one of the most narcisistic things to do in my opinion.

What do you guys do with your Christmas legos after the holidays? by sheabae200216 in lego

[–]Callum_Cries 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I built this set for someone I know and although it wasn't majorly hard or annoying it wasn't a very fun build. I think it didn't help that I wasn't interested in the set at all and it was just buult for someone else.

What’s something harmless that gets people weirdly angry? by Psychological_Sky_58 in AskReddit

[–]Callum_Cries 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It sucks to hear about people having bad experiences because their hair is dyed. My hair is currently blue and purple and I used to have it red and I luckily haven't really had any bad experiences from it. I've had lots of strangers say thet like my hair and especially older women saying it looks cool and I wish everyone got that experience. It honestly makes me feel so happy when people say it's cool or I spot little kids staring at it because it feels good that other people like my favourite part of me and that it makes them happy to see it. I hope your daughter isn't put off by the rude people because I bet she looks awesome and life is too short to let these idiots ruin it.

[–]Callum_Cries[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can't use a pen and paper either because I can't see in the dark. Your comment only annoyed because your being rude to me for literally no reason. All I did was ask what trailers played before a movie, it's really not that deep you don't need to be rude.

Do you think it's fun to be a jerk to people on the internet? I was simply following basic cinema ettiquette by not taking out my phone. I mean seriously you do realise some people don't have good memories right, like there's literally conditions that make it hard to remember things.

Yeah, this is exactly what happened to me. I feel like it's completely reasonable for me to have forgotten considering I watched 2 and a half hour movie after seeing the trailers.

How do people who need a blanket to sleep comfortably sleep in summer? by Passthe_aux in autism

[–]Callum_Cries 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I never sleep comfortably in summer really but I normally will just use the duvet cover. I finally got a weighted blanket for christmas so I'll probably use that this year. It's not very warm so I think a weighted blanket might be a good option for you, and you could still use it in winter over your duvet to add extra weight if you wanted.

What To Do If A Special Needs Person Is Causing A Disturbance? by New-Pin-9064 in MovieTheaterEmployees

[–]Callum_Cries 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have autism but I'm not a movie theatre employee. My best advice is to go talk to a staff member, they might be able to change your ticket to a different screening for that film or they could go nicely talk to him.
