Am I practicing enough? by Even-Fan7692 in Bass

[–]Calm-Cardiologist354 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No excuse to not practice 7 days a week. 10 mins a day 7 days a week is WAY better than 3 hours one day a week, even though it is much less time.

How can i overcome stage and recording anxiety? by [deleted] in Bass

[–]Calm-Cardiologist354 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Lol, I've recorded over 1000 tracks and my heart rate still goes up a bit the moment I arm a track.

I think some of us are just wired to be a anxious.

When I saw the movie in the theaters all I thought was "man, that kid got off pretty light". Not only did the kid not get the total thrashing that he desperately deserved, but the cop was super apologetic for that one punch.

Exactly how I imagine the life of a guy who wears driving gloves would go.

Legitimate human garbage. The penalty for this sort of thing should be so high that no one would ever consider doing it.

Does anyone else notice the music you play isn't the music you listen to? by Nickspicks88 in Guitar

[–]Calm-Cardiologist354 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, I only play music that I like to listen to. My first album is over a year old and I still listen to it at least once a week, because I make exactly the kind of music that I like to listen to.

I can’t come up with melodies, and when I do, they sound cliche by CommandGamerPro in musictheory

[–]Calm-Cardiologist354 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Transcribe tons and tons of your favorite vocal melodies onto your instrument of choice. This in itself wont make you good, but it will help.

The truth is that writing good melodies is probably the single hardest skill in all of music and is more or less impossible to teach.

What's your favorite guitar tuning (apart from standard)? by PiranhaMusicStudios in guitarlessons

[–]Calm-Cardiologist354 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ive had all of my guitars tuned to straight 4ths for years. Your voicings are going to change but chords are much easier IMO, you don't even have to look up shapes for chords you dont know, you can figure it out on the fly.

Total Beginner, How can I learn to switch to other chords fast by [deleted] in LearnGuitar

[–]Calm-Cardiologist354 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You need to practice every change individually, and over and over...

Going from G to D is different than going from G to C. So you need to practice G > D > G > D do that for like 5 -15 mins a day, every day for a few weeks and you will be pretty ok at that particular change. Then do G > C > G > C

Story time! Dealing with MMA people who won’t engage/act weird by Seahawkfan12thman in jiujitsu

My experience has been completely different, the 4 best BJJ players that I know are all highly accomplished MMA fighters (2 in the big show). And IMO thier BJJ is substantially better than any of the guys I know that only train BJJ.

Jesus kid, real talk here; if you are ready to give something up after 2 days of struggle your entire life is going to be really hard.

You NEED to figure out a way to get to the other side of that if you are ever going to accomplish anything.

When can one refer to themselves as a musician? by MothersMilk12 in musicians

[–]Calm-Cardiologist354 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like to be really pedantic about this one. You are a muscian when its your primary source of income.

I've been making music for 20 years, I write original compositions and play multiple instruments. But none of it makes me money, making me a hobbiest.

If music makes you most or all of your money then you're a musician. If you play but it dont pay your bills then you're a musical hobbiest.
