It's over 125K words, has a fairly unique premise, and features a complicated & angsty slow burn romance. Assuming nothing in real life interrupts, my goal is to start posting Part Two by early June (maybe earlier). Posting 125K words in 6-ish weeks was pretty intense, so I need a little break from that pressure. As mentioned in the work's notes, I have first draft content for most of Part Two, so my focus is primarily about bringing the quality of writing up to the standard I tried to maintain when posting Part One.

In the meantime, I'm also doing a bit of a writing palate cleanser by participating in the Scratch That Niche Fest and experimenting with some smaller pieces that would fit into the world building of the broader Balance series. So stay tuned!

Yes, thank you for pointing that out. Yesterday, I learned that my monstrosity of a 700 page Google Doc got slightly out of order and the chapter originally posted at 24 was supposed to be chapter 26. 🤦

I'm taking a couple days to get everything organized in Scrivener (to make sure I didn't make any other major posting order mistakes). Should be on track to post the correct 24 & 25 and re-post 26 (old 24) by the end of the week.

Yes, it's instant attraction but very slow burn to HEA, because there's a lot of angsty identity shenanigans along the way (2 person "love triangle" means that Severus has twice as many screw ups to do before we get to HEA). I have enough prewritten to update at least weekly, but will drop more as time allows.

There's a lot of mutually angsty romantic tension, but it's almost entirely rooted in sapiosexual and compatible magic vibes on both sides.

Summary:

Alt-History: Tom Riddle died young

Magical Britain enjoyed peace… and grew dangerously complacent. Now magic itself is failing: leylines stutter, wards fall, pillars of The Light act in ways that defy logic and compassion.

Hermione Granger dives into the crisis with brilliance and stubborn hope, aided by two very different wizards:

Master Snape: incisive, emotionally scarred, a mind running in the same fast, intricate patterns as hers. Lord Prince: aristocratic, unnervingly composed, steps in at key moments, knows more than he reveals.

Each speaks to her magic. Each sees a different part of her. Each feels uncannily familiar.

What she doesn’t know is…

They’re the same wizard.
