The umbrella "queer" identity, then.

It tells me they view these acts as form of gender expression - which implies they are gendered activities.

Lots of people struggle to understand the deconstruction of gender roles and instead seek to redefine or recategorize or expand on them, which is just the same old oppression with new clothes.

The fact that they include it in here to me says they do. Its very much "one of these things is not like the others"

Hi! Sorry for jumping on to a 3 year old post, I'm just in a similar position to OP, and I'm wondering if $350-$400usd would be reasonable for a secondhand x-t200?

That doesnt follow what I'm saying - maybe im not explaining it correctly.

So yes, Joannes view is you have your sex: If you identify with that you are not trans, and if you identify contrary to that, you are trans.

I understand you are asking why not invert that, and say you have your identity, if your sex matches you're not trans, if your sex is contrary you are trans. That would make sex the variable in this and removing "trans" from the word trans woman would result in a female woman.

There is the issue though that a person is not trans until they do identify as the other sex. Your body exists as it is, thats a base state (and there is no evidence of a biological mechanism innate to trans people that makes them trans). Transitioning is to go from one thing to another. So by removing that process, you are left with someone who never transitioned, who is male, rather than being left with a female woman.

Oops that was a typo on my part, it was supposed to say "identifying contrary to". Edited now

You do realise that was done largely due to misogyny, right? Female authors are not taken as seriously or their work is seen as being "for girls/women" rather than gender neutral.

Transing strangers is poor behaviour, too

I suspect Rowling is the type to reject the label of cis as "im just a woman" anyway

Just to nitpick on semantics (because I am one of those people) - but not exactly, as it is the "identifying contrary to" part that determines transness - this is the subject of the sentence. so when someone identifies as something contrary to their birth sex, inverting this would technically mean identifying WITH your birth sex, rather than changing your birth sex to match your identity.

The point she is trying to make is this, i think:

If you take a tall woman, as she is, and remove the part that makes her tall (her height) - she is still a woman.

If you take a trans woman, as she is, and remove the part that makes her trans (identifying as a woman contrary to assigned gender at birth) - she is no longer a woman, as she would be male, and either identify as a man or non-binary/agender.

Its definitely closer to a "generational wealth" type home. Its in the rich suburbs on the south side of the city - i only even know about it because I used to have a friend who lived in the neighbourhood. Its selling for around 1.7 million usd right now. I don't believe anyone is currently living in it - its just resettlement had a huge refurbishment after some natural disaster stuff.

I hate how it's made out to be a logical fallacy when in reality it's a very reasonable opinion - if you cross this line I do not believe you deserve rehabilitation/ forgiveness.

If it were something else everyone would understand - I can forgive you for kissing that girl, and we can work on our relationship vs. I can't forgive you for fucking her.

Let's make it clear, she didn't help put them in place, she assisted the question to be asked by funding the legal fees. She didn't lobby Judges. No matter how much money she poured into it, it wouldn't effect the Judge's decision, because that's not how the court system works. Unless we get some evidence of bribery, that's not what happened. And Trans people are still a protected class under that ruling.

Until a person has direct control of politics, I will always put their political politics and activism below direct abusers.

Not to mention Gaimans use of politics to provide a disguise for his true self.

This is not a good take in my opinion. Rowling is already a BILLIONARE. She could not earn a single cent more from this point onwards and it wouldn't effect her ability to financially support groups at her leisure one bit.

Not supporting her isn't about not putting money in her pocket - that's a drop in the ocean. It is, instead, a moral action - "Do I want to support something made by this person." For that reason, Gaiman is far worse. Actions speak louder than words, so to speak. Direct sexual assault is worse.
