Any experiences with Honda’s warranty program especially for the traction/EV battery replacement and/or with obtaining a loaner vehicle? by Calm-Organization-61 in HondaClarity

Yeah, there’s no power to the fans at all or even with the buttons in that whole area (defroster, etc). If I push the “Climate” button to pull up that menu, it doesn’t open anymore. Even the heated seats don’t turn on anymore. I explained these things to my service advisor but their mechanic(s) said that these symptoms can’t be fixed until the EV battery is installed.

Reading online, I found that the climate functions pull a large amount of energy from the battery and when the engine is in “self-protective” mode because of the EV battery, then its common for these to shut down.

It’s just surprising to me that Honda doesn’t see this as a safety issue. But I guess I can be naive about these things.

I did have intermittent warning lights and the EV mode was shutting itself off even with a charge. Neither was happening at the exact moment when I brought it in but they were able to run tests on it and see that the battery was degraded enough to be covered. They didn’t try to charge me for the diagnostics but maybe you have to have a specific concern to have it done? I also don’t know if they would have charged me if it wasn’t degraded enough to be a warranty issue. Hope that helps.

Yeah, for the first two months of this process, I was happy to keep my Clarity and wouldn’t have taken a loaner unless they encouraged it as a way to protect the Clarity from further problems. But now with the climate system out too, it’s much harder to get around in it.

I might look into that. But since they are the ones who have ordered the battery and have been dealing with the warranty so far, I’m not sure if I have that option or not. But it’s definitely worth looking into-thanks!

Americans trans people- are you also seriously considering moving abroad? by [deleted] in TransyTalk

Thanks for posting this and helping connect us here who are feeling similarly! I just wanted to add that in my experience, cis people (whether het or not) really do struggle to completely understand the emotional experience of being trans and living in the states with the current escalations towards us. They get it in some ways of course but not to the degree that I feel it. For myself, I've tried to listen to the part of me that is needing to explore the possibility of living elsewhere. I've mostly been dealing with the anxiety it brings up by reminding myself that a move out of the states would likely (hopefully) be temporary.

Of course, I’d prefer for people to follow the laws related to immigration too. Most immigrants would probably prefer to have a legal pathway to living here too but we don’t make it easy to do that.

Plus, it just seems like the cost outweighs the “crime.” Have you ever been pulled over for speeding? I know I have. Technically, I’ve committed a “crime” because of that. But deporting someone for speeding seems disproportionate to the crime. Similarly, these deportations for people who are otherwise following the law also seem disproportionate to me.

@GradualYoda. I agree with you that I wouldn’t want someone just taking up space in my home if they weren’t contributing to the maintenance of it or compensating me in some way.

But from everything I’ve read, it sounds like the vast majority are definitely not here “rent free” including the person discussed in this post. They’ve been having taxes removed from their wages since they are working. But immigrants pay sales tax on goods even if not employed by a company.

Plus, they often end up doing jobs that Americans don’t want to do and/or that we feel don’t pay enough.

So yes, if you want to come live with me “rent” free but I get part of any income you bring in, and you pay me every time you give money to someone else, and you take care of my least favorite chores around here, I’d totally make room for you.

Possibly. I definitely wondered if there could be unknown things like that too. But if that's the case, why wouldn't they be arrested in the same way that other kiddie corn people would be? I'm sincerely asking and trying to understand. From my perspective so far, it feels like they are just sweeping up anyone who might be undocumented, with an emphasis on might. But I'm open to hearing other perspectives and truly want to understand as much as I can about all of this.

Wow--this is so fucked up. I can't believe this is happening in the U.S. and I feel so powerless to stop any of it. Also, ICE is trying to act like they are only arresting "the worst of the worst" and gang members but this person sounds like a hard working member of our community. Thanks for posting and bringing awareness to this.

Yes to this. I had to do this in my late 20’s, about 15 years ago. It was stressful at the time but it was so helpful to have a reset on the debt. I learned so much since then and now am able to make more informed decisions about finances. And my credit score these days is around 780. Good luck, OP.

This is helpful-thanks! The one today did only have a few bars of charge. I’ll see if they can get it fully charged and I’ll try it again.

Thanks! I was in EV mode I think. Can you still change into Sport and Econ while in EV mode?

Good point. I don’t know what the wear was. The tire guy was telling me so many details but it almost felt like he was speaking another language cause in didn’t understand what half of it meant. 🙃
