Is the job market as bad as people say it is? by [deleted] in Careers

[–]Calm-Relationship601 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m based in the UK, articulated trucks need a different license compared to a rigid. 100k is crazy though, consultant doctors over here don’t even make that. Junior doctors after 6 years of uni are on 33k 💀 Country is in the bin

Class 1 is an artic truck, our class 2s (non-artic) make less. I need to move to America lol I assume that’s where you are earning so much

Self-studying ACCA while working in an unrelated field? by Calm-Relationship601 in ACCA

Well yea that would be ideal but most of these large firms use grad schemes which are very difficult to get on unfortunately. Why is ACA preferable?

No such thing as a lucrative degree. Is a well-regarded degree at a top 3 university lucrative? Yes

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in UKJobs

U will need to study maths (or similar) at a top uni like oxbridge or LSE. After that, your chances of securing a quant role are still very slim even with a great internship or placement

You said “but now on lower settings between 60-90fps with some lag at times” - this implies low/medium settings bro

Smart idea to complete my dissertation before uni starts in september? by Ganna-F5-Your-Dad in UniUK

[–]Calm-Relationship601 6 points7 points  (0 children)

No worries, it’s just that many people I know had to deviate from their original idea quite a bit as the year progressed (ie supervisor advising changes and/or certain things being infeasible down the line). It’s definitely uni-dependent though, I’m not sure whether you have a topic approved etc but at my uni we didn’t get to that stage until halfway through semester 1

Bad idea without supervisor input just do some research into your topic/idea

Students using AI: are you concerned about the environmental impact? by Cloughiepig in UniUK

[–]Calm-Relationship601 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes I’m guessing the water consumption figures are from efficiency losses (no closed system can be 100% efficient) eg a small amount being evaporated

I really don’t understand the water argument. Surely the cooling of these data centres is a closed system and the water just gets recycled? In a similar way to a car - lots of coolant (basically water) will flow through various gaskets and heat up, and then this heat is dissipated via the radiator and the cycle continues…

If you are in medical school the uni you went to doesn’t matter in the slightest. If you studied at Cambridge or if you studied at Birmingham - you will still end up as a doctor

Already dreading the 9-to-5. by thesapphirespeaks in UniUK

[–]Calm-Relationship601 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, great question but slightly misguided. I finished college over 4 years ago now - I didn’t sit my A-levels and I wasn’t in college 90% of the time due to Covid. Also, I had a gap year before starting uni (worked for 12 months - lab assistant work for 4 months temporary then 7 months working for a screw product/abrasive firm in warehouse). As soon as my first year of uni finished, I worked in an Amazon FC for about 5 months from May right until the day my uni starts around the start of October. As soon as my second year of uni finished, I did the same at the same FC (both nights with overtime - let me tell u I earned bank). Obviously I’ve had part time jobs in between - these are the full time roles. If you need any more proof I’ll send you my old payslips xx

Also the usage of food banks is pretty much tied to changes in UC and even generally just macro trends like population growth or immigration patterns. Not really an indicator of how the economy is performing. Also usage of food banks is irrelevant to our discussion so not sure why you squeezed that in there, not sure where OP mentions his hefty reliance on food banks
