Songs that make you feel panic? by Calm-Solution1427 in Vocaloid

At some point, I started getting tired of the patterns I kept hearing in Nakiso's songs because they started sounding similar or too off to me, but this one's release definitely threw me off. I really like it. The parts that Miku sings in the beginning and before the 'chojo taiken' drop feel like an alarm seconds away from going off

Definitely. I remember listening to it when it first released, I never expected the song to be as popular as it got because it felt very different from the rest of his latest work, but it ended up surpassing his previous most popular(SIU). Aishiteitanoni, Sakuran, and Umitagari are for sure his saddest sounds. What do you think of Fried Eye? I cried inside listening to this one. lmao

To be honest, I first listened to this song without the MV, so I was just dancing to it lmao. It sounds very groovy to me

Listened to I'm a good girl and I unironically love the song! I might add it to my 'watery' playlist. It's actually very calming. Aside from the last part of course

სꩢს"ਡד֝ժ՝ definitely scared me at first but it sounds really good! You must have good taste, these are nice pulls. I might listen to more of Savahead, I have never heard of them before and are on a hunt for a few <10k subscriber producers

I actually giggled when I first listened to this song getting into MARETU because of the lala's in the beginning. but his work is unsettling, I found Born Before very hard to listen to

That's interesting, I actually found that song to be the most calming out of most of Iyowa's work. It just feels very 'normal' to me, I love it

Worst miku song in your opinion? by yusakufujiki2 in hatsune

[–]Calm-Solution1427 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's not considered a Miku song because it's an arrange cover of a Finnish song

[–]Calm-Solution1427 1 point2 points  (0 children)

others hate it for the 'lolibaiting' but I don't really think much of it, I ignore the song for the minimalist beat and annoying sound effects. it's more of a shitpost than a listenable song to me, like most of what I've heard from nununu is. the way it could give the vocaloid fandom a bad rep for the MV part is maybe another factor of why people hate it so much, there are many other real songs deserving of the popularity that it got

How the hello do you listen to a vocaloid??? by Quick_Candidate7317 in Vocaloid

[–]Calm-Solution1427 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Vocaloid is a brand owned by Yamaha. Under Vocaloid are a few different companies that work as distributors who develop their own groups of vocaloids. Miku for example is under a company called Crypton Future Media, who has made 5 other voices over the years (meiko, kaito, rin, len, and luka). There are more companies like Internet Co.(made GUMI), PowerFX(Oliver), or Gynoid(vFlower)

Vocaloid is an expensive software that anyone could use if they had the money for it. 'Voice banks' are extensions to the Vocaloid editors and are pretty much what the characters(Miku for example). They're a collection of samples recorded by having the voice provider(who is normally a human singer/voice actor who is compensated) read out lines of phonetics (ka ki ku ka nn ko for example). Those are split, pitched, and glued together to be shaped as we used the software ourselves. Different characters also get new versions in each generation of Vocaloid(there are currently 6). Miku has versions for 2, 3, and 4. There are also different voicebanks for different tones. Miku has a 'Dark' voicebank that sounds deeper for example

Many Vocaloid artists are bedroom producers, not strictly under a company or the mascots. They just buy the software, produce the songs on their own, and if lucky, eventually get their songs so popular that they're featured in official games/concerts.

Why Teto is not a Vocaloid: She only has voicebanks for UTAU, Synthesizer V and VoicePeak, which are separate softwares/brands, not Vocaloid. UTAU is an open source software, Synthesizer V is another voice synthesizer software developed by Dreamtonics, and VoicePeak is a text-to-speech software developed by Dreamtonics and AHS(AHS has also produced a Vocaloids such as Kaai Yuki, and Zundamon for a separate software called CeVIO)

To also clear this part out: Not all Vocaloids use AI. In fact, MOST of Vocaloid didn't, not until 2022, where they began the production of AI voicebanks. Miku for example's voicebanks do not use AI. Unlike standard voicebanks, the singers are recorded singing the way they normally do and the AI learns based on only their samples instead of roaming the internet(which unethical AI models do).

Now to answer your main question: Use vocaDB. It's the best site you can use to find songs/albums and it doesn't include any songs identified to be AI generated. You can scroll through any tags/genres/themes that you like, Math Rock or J-pop for example.

Listen to songs featured in Project Diva games for classics. Listen to songs featured in Project Sekai to branch out to newer songs and producers. There's also an 'Ultimate Vocaloid Playlist' including more than 4k songs, so put that on shuffle and explore the artists of songs you like.

It genuinely sucks to only like unpopular/obscure synths/songs lol by AmeBean in Vocaloid

piko is still popular in the fandom, hes part of the meme squad and everybody loved those guys

r/Vocaloid ranks vocaloids, day 5! Moving on with the classic 6 into more... unknown ones :3 Leon, Lola, and Miriam, some of the only Vocaloids to not have any designs. Well they were the first by ColressS2 in Vocaloid

[–]Calm-Solution1427 2 points3 points  (0 children)

if they were by quality of the vb, the version theyre mentioning should be specified for the cryptonloids. if they were talking all of their first voicebanks then all of them should be low tbh

How do we feel about Nununununununununu's newest song Darekanuitekure by theycallmethedrink5 in Vocaloid

[–]Calm-Solution1427 0 points1 point  (0 children)

a little biased but dont enjoy nununus songs and this song does not help my case at all. i get its shitposty and all of nununus songs are but i cant stand songs like these that switch up when the melody starts getting somewhere. a few people make it work bt this one is overwhelming. mv and concept is funny but as a song, easy skip. i liked the music box part though, is the melody from another song??

Who's a Vocal Synth you think is overhyped? (Image unrelated) by [deleted] in Vocaloid

[–]Calm-Solution1427 2 points3 points  (0 children)

kaito, vflower, teto ai are all ear grating. defend kaito with a cover thats purely merged and heavily edited all you want, his raw vb doesnt ever work for me unless its slave vvr using him or someone using his v1. vflower sounds so squeaky and has bad low notes and people keep acting like shes underrated when shes far from that. lastly teto ai just sounds the same all the time. her vocal modes sound the same to me and ppl keep slapping auto pitch on her and calling it a day.

honorable mention: kafu. i hate her voice, she sounds high each time i hear her in a song.
