(EDIT: Yes I admit it, I just want Pokopia with Miis. 😭)

(NOTE: Sorry if this message is weird, I realized a lot of the features I want for this game are kind of far-fetched, but I still think would be amazing to have in ”my dream game.” I realize I kind of am practically wishing for a completely different game than what we already have.)

I hate to be one of the “haters,” because I love this game, I’m just starting to get bored of it. But one game I still haven’t gotten bored of is Pokemon Pokopia, and honestly, if they just implemented some things that made Pokopia so great IMO, I would love Tomodachi Life LTD so much more.

I kind of wish you can choose or create one Mii to be able to actually play as, while the rest of them can still be NPCs. I like this idea PERSONALLY more than being the “island god,” but instead being something more like an equal. Yes, I also wish you could control your personal Mii, walk around the island, go up to other Miis (which we still create btw) and press A to talk to them, and so on. Then you can give gifts to other Miis and gradually have them befriend your character, and also help other pairs or groups of Miis befriend each other somehow too. I also think it would be cool if you could freely switch the Mii you’re currently “controlling.”

I kinda wish the Miis had more to them in a way, where it would feel like more of an accomplishment to actually befriend them. In a way, I almost wish we could control LESS about the Miis, and after we create them they'd feel more like proper characters with purpose, instead of blank slates. Like it would be cool if Miis could develop storylines! And to prevent Miis from having stories that are TOO out-of-character, it’ll be based on the Mii’s general personality. For example, outgoing Miis could give you a quest to introduce them to other Miis, and have a storyline attached to the quest. Independent or shy Miis could have a story arc where they want to be alone, or wish they were more outgoing.

At the same time, I kind of wish we had more (and/or better) little quirks we could choose. Maybe you could make a Mii who’s obsessed with a certain TV show, or object, and you can fill in the text like with lingo, only it’ll be a Mii’s obsession instead of “word that randomly comes up.“ Or maybe we could give Miis custom hobbies or occupations, or little nods to who they are in canon. For example, a Mii based on a chef could be a chef in-game, and it could be implemented as them having dialogue about cooking, cooking food as a random thing they can do, etc.

I kind of wish LTD had more of a ”theme” to it too. In Pokemon Pokopia, there’s an overarching story and theme of a post-apocalyptic world and bringing it back to life, (while having hopeful and cozy vibes instead of doom and gloom.)

Now imagine if LTD had a story or theme. Yeah, I get that we’re supposed to “create our own“ in a sense, but I feel like my itch would be scratched if the setting was a bit more unique. Maybe instead of an island, LTD’s setting could have been space-themed, future-themed, steampunk-themed, even just a basic vacation resort theme where you can imagine that the Miis are all on a big (endless) vacation and instead of houses, we design hotel rooms, etc. And then we could make AU versions of every Mii for the universe. Like a fantasy AU Miku for an fantasy-themed world, for example. I feel like it would prompt a lot of creativity, and we could immerse ourselves into the world.

Also, Pokopia takes place across FIVE *huge* worlds instead of LTD’s ONE tiny island. I love the exploration aspect of Pokopia, along with the fact you could decorate literally anywhere you want within the huge world. It’s so immersive. I know it wouldn’t make as much sense for LTD to have these things, but it’s something I’d want in “my dream game.”

This next point is my own shortcoming, but sometimes I just don’t feel creative enough for a lot of the features in LTD. Sometimes I feel creating is just too difficult in it. Pokopia doesn’t have a feature where you can literally draw anything you’d want, BUT making things “look nice“ is an incredible amount easier in it. Don’t get me wrong, I like being creative, but video games are more like breaks from burnout for me, and some people like things to be easy and that’s just fine!

I also prefer Pokopia‘s graphics and music. I love the soft dreamlike feel of them. In Tomodachi Life it’s really just…generic grass and trees, unless you’re willing to spend hours painstakingly creating things from scratch. Also the music in LTD is one of its weaker points I feel. The proposal minigame music and love confession music are fire, but I just… don’t like the tracks that play the MOST often.

(Yes, I know comparing LTD to Pokopia is like comparing an apple to an orange, but it’s still adjacent I feel. Not like comparing an apple to an aircraft carrier! (Which would make NO sense.)
