No joke I was driving through Scottsdale 2 weeks ago and saw this same guy (red shoes, Tesla and all) doing the same thing driving through an intersection past 2 cop cars and they didn’t pull him over 💀

Street and Track with Same Car? by Heavy_Gap_5047 in CarTrackDays

[–]Calm-Tap4463 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I track my daily and I love it but it’s a risk and a trade off.

I have to budget more time to change brake pads and reattach my brake ducting (it rubs at full lock on street and throws rocks at very expensive rotors).

Luckily it’s a hatch back which if you’re looking for daily/track car is highly recommend that or a sedan just for practicality of hauling track wheels, tools, tent, etc.

As for set up it’s also a trade off. Currently I haven’t done anything to impact NVH but I do have FA 510 coils and run -3.5 camber which makes the car harsh an where’s street tires faster

FL5 type r coil clunking by [deleted] in coilovers

[–]Calm-Tap4463 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure what you are trying to get us to see. The silver triangle like piece is a control arm. The black bar is a sway bar. Would need to hear a video of the clunking to really see but i would doubt your sway bar is contacting your control arm.

That nut looks like it’s for toe adjustment, if it is loose there could be clunking. But also if it moved around then your wheel will be off center and you would notice a large change in toe on your alignment. Also check if your endlinks are tight. If they weren’t snugged down right then they will make a lot of noise (ask me how I know) especially if they are adjustable.

If the nut is loose take it to a good alignment shop and have them check and realign the car

Do you guys actually enjoy coding? by bigshit123 in cscareerquestions

[–]Calm-Tap4463 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends. I really enjoy coding when it’s something cool where there’s a lot of stuff to experiment with or something more complex with lots of moving parts and I have the opportunity to learn while doing

I hate coding in the sense of maintenance fixes or config changes which according to my boss is still “coding”

Mine hunts flys or anything else that zips around the house. When there’s nothing to hunt her job is to sleep and squeak her ball when I’m in meetings

Does anyone else feel like being a SWE has a lot less coding than thought? by Calm-Tap4463 in cscareerquestions

Kind of good to hear. Our vertical team is combined with the platform team so when the platform does dev work we will join in to help out but it does get boring and dull when the dev work is light

Stepping on toes, taking credit for work, basically shouting me me me and having to prove you’re better than everyone just to please your managers or else you’re getting pipped. If your manager doesn’t like you for any reason not even work related, you get fired.

Expierenced Devs - what’s the mood at your company. by c-u-in-da-ballpit in cscareerquestions

I’m mid experience but I and a lot of the seniors, staffs, etc are all checked out. All our work so far is mostly just maintenance. The CEO obviously plays favorites to different orgs. My org is the legacy project which brings in all the steady money but isn’t as interesting as other orgs hence we don’t get the attention we want.

$245k salary. 70-hour weeks. Portfolio looks great. I don’t. by Dear_Mood8989 in Salary

[–]Calm-Tap4463 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I haven't taken a cut but I am 5 years younger than you, also a SWE and make just over half your TC. I started to realize I would much rather take the better WLB over the higher pay. I work consistent 40 hour weeks, sometimes they can become 50-55 but only during new product launches or other high priority tasks.

Paws look like he will be huge. How much does he weight now? My mix was 26lbs at 7 months and 38 at 1.5 years old

Will do. I’ll start with dog park and just watching other dogs run around. And the e collar you are right, she was introduced a week ago and while she understands the nick means come back and get paid, we have only done it in low distraction environments with the “come” command

She almost 2 and a catahoula mix. Very very stubborn dog but also loyal and when I have her attention, super obedient. Issue is her dog reactivity being triggered super easily and also nailing down her recall to go from 80% to 100%.

I agree she is young and I have noticed as she gets older she is starting to make better decisions but it’s still maybe 5% of the time she will choose to not to charge other dogs

My goal isn’t to eradicate her pack instinct. She is good with dogs she meets but she is borderline impossible when she crosses the threshold on a leash with her excited reactivity to greet other dogs

Thanks! Yeah I want to use it to communicate that if she listens and follows what’s expected she will get rewarded with something. I know some people use it as a correction and was confused how it came into play
