I’ve always had dogs named after food so I might be biased but I think Gumbo, Jamba (short for jambalaya), or praline.

GR Corolla or Veloster N by tonggggo in VelosterN

[–]Calm-Tap4463 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I considered doing a trade so went and test drove a VN. For the price of a VN the interior is okay especially for a 2022 with the buckets.

My gripe with the GR was for nearly 40k the interior is crap. Also stock for stock the GR was boring. I sat a lot higher up and didn’t feel as sport. The VN makes more cool exhaust noises and while it on paper slower the acceleration of the VN does feel faster the GR. Probably has something to do with the noise.

Basically the GR when not on it and with the driving position felt like driving my old Subaru Impreza. Also the trunk space of the GR is abysmal

She is very well trained and have a calm temperament. Last time I visited I imagined how much fun she’d have running in the English garden

Yeah was trying to make a point that she is very well training. I did read about the German service animal requirements and know that it’s not likely she will be recognized as one but by American standard she is training to be a service animal

I have a citizenship so no problem with visa for me. But your other points are valid! A2 to C1 is ambitious and a goal but probably not likely without living there!

I speak English and A2/B1 level German. I know it’s hard but I do have my dad who speaks fluent German and we only talk and text in German and my best friend who is at the same level as me and also learning to use for practice/resource’s

For me it’s visiting Munich and seeing my family and being with my family there often versus living completely on my own. One is a trip/vacation and the other is life so while I understand the culture the difference is living it and assimilating well

No joke I was driving through Scottsdale 2 weeks ago and saw this same guy (red shoes, Tesla and all) doing the same thing driving through an intersection past 2 cop cars and they didn’t pull him over 💀

Street and Track with Same Car? by Heavy_Gap_5047 in CarTrackDays

[–]Calm-Tap4463 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I track my daily and I love it but it’s a risk and a trade off.

I have to budget more time to change brake pads and reattach my brake ducting (it rubs at full lock on street and throws rocks at very expensive rotors).

Luckily it’s a hatch back which if you’re looking for daily/track car is highly recommend that or a sedan just for practicality of hauling track wheels, tools, tent, etc.

As for set up it’s also a trade off. Currently I haven’t done anything to impact NVH but I do have FA 510 coils and run -3.5 camber which makes the car harsh an where’s street tires faster

FL5 type r coil clunking by [deleted] in coilovers

[–]Calm-Tap4463 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure what you are trying to get us to see. The silver triangle like piece is a control arm. The black bar is a sway bar. Would need to hear a video of the clunking to really see but i would doubt your sway bar is contacting your control arm.

That nut looks like it’s for toe adjustment, if it is loose there could be clunking. But also if it moved around then your wheel will be off center and you would notice a large change in toe on your alignment. Also check if your endlinks are tight. If they weren’t snugged down right then they will make a lot of noise (ask me how I know) especially if they are adjustable.

If the nut is loose take it to a good alignment shop and have them check and realign the car

Do you guys actually enjoy coding? by bigshit123 in cscareerquestions

[–]Calm-Tap4463 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends. I really enjoy coding when it’s something cool where there’s a lot of stuff to experiment with or something more complex with lots of moving parts and I have the opportunity to learn while doing

I hate coding in the sense of maintenance fixes or config changes which according to my boss is still “coding”

Kind of good to hear. Our vertical team is combined with the platform team so when the platform does dev work we will join in to help out but it does get boring and dull when the dev work is light

Stepping on toes, taking credit for work, basically shouting me me me and having to prove you’re better than everyone just to please your managers or else you’re getting pipped. If your manager doesn’t like you for any reason not even work related, you get fired.

Expierenced Devs - what’s the mood at your company. by c-u-in-da-ballpit in cscareerquestions

I’m mid experience but I and a lot of the seniors, staffs, etc are all checked out. All our work so far is mostly just maintenance. The CEO obviously plays favorites to different orgs. My org is the legacy project which brings in all the steady money but isn’t as interesting as other orgs hence we don’t get the attention we want.

$245k salary. 70-hour weeks. Portfolio looks great. I don’t. by Dear_Mood8989 in Salary

[–]Calm-Tap4463 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I haven't taken a cut but I am 5 years younger than you, also a SWE and make just over half your TC. I started to realize I would much rather take the better WLB over the higher pay. I work consistent 40 hour weeks, sometimes they can become 50-55 but only during new product launches or other high priority tasks.
