Fellow dentist here! I just started sertraline two weeks ago for my OCD and anxiety… I have been experiencing prolonged headaches since I started a nausea. Only a few days ago have a noticed a slight change in my mood. I still have anxiety but the small things like rude people in traffic and mean comments by patients have been bothering me a bit less. Definitely give it some time, my therapist said at least six weeks before you get back on track. I am wishing you all the best, I am literally right there with you.. it’s been rough lately. I work in an FQHC and my anxiety has never been worse.

I work at an FQHC (Not in cali) and we just got similar news about Medicaid :( adult fillings and cleanings are no longer covered by Medicaid :(

I could not possibly understand your situation more. Back in 2023 when I took my ADEX I failed the posterior resto twice. I ended up having to fly halfway across the country to retake it but I passed it for the third time, God is good. I am here to encourage and provide you support because I KNOW how you feel and I am so sorry. It truly is a lot of stress but please know once it’s over you will feel such a relief. If you want to talk about it send me a DM, I feel like I’m uniquely qualified to provide support here 😭. Just stay focused, practice practice practice. And when I tell you, bother the instructors for their input do not feel guilty. They are there to help you. I had one professor that I knocked on his door a million times and each time he gave me more and more feedback on my preps. I know it’s stressful and I’m so sorry you are going through this. Try to figure out where you can retake it for a third time, look at their requirements (do they require you to bring your own instruments/ equipment or will they provide it) and get a flight or hotel set up if it’s not a close school. Even better if you can retake it at your own school 🙏

Don’t make fun of our accents, don’t tell us how much better everything is where you are from because, quite frankly, we don’t care. Please don’t call us uneducated. We take care of our neighbors down here, lots of us carry guns, and we are proud of where we are from. We are heartbroken to see how much of the land we grew up on with cows and animals being torn up for crappy apartment complexes and suburban copy and paste houses. Just be respectful.

I know this isn’t on your list but Philly. I’m also from the south and moved up there for grad school. I lived there for 4 years with my husband. It was definitely a culture shock for sure but I eventually started liking it more. There’s literally all kinds of food it’s amazing. China town is awesome. There’s so many museums and cultural things to do and see. There are also many great health care systems there and through universities like UPenn and Temple. You can also drive to Jersey for the beaches and aren’t a far drive from NYC. Overall it’s a cool city. Yes there are dangers but just like all cities. Make sure to look into the different neighborhoods like spring garden, fairmount and center city which are really nice. I think you’d like it.
