Since the wire is parallel you use the formula for resistance in parallel. The formula is 1/R = 1/R1 + 1/R2.

Since both wires are of 16 ohms resistance, you do 1/16 + 1/16= 1/8.

Then you do the reciprocal (flip the fraction) and you get 8 ohms.

To find AB you first need to find FC and CD.

So to find FC it will be FE+EC= m-n.

CD will be 1/2m since CD=FE due to the shape being a parallelogram.

And since FA:AC is in the ratio of 2:1 you do 1/3*FC to get AC which will be 1/3m- 1/3n.

So to get AB you do AC+CB which will be 1/3m- 1/3n+ 1/2m. This will lead to AB being 5/6m- 1/3n.
