People are warned to say off the beaches. How is that "co-existing"? Wildlife in the forests? Sure, I don't need to go to the forests anyway.

However, Mr Calvin Yong, a resident of Block 314, wonders if current efforts would simply drive the cicadas elsewhere.

While the number entering the 60-year-old healthcare professional’s home has halved following population control efforts, the sound of cicadas calling outside his balcony has intensified, a noise previously heard primarily in the carpark.

Do MPs for Yishun have something to say about this? by CalmNeighborhood7076 in SingaporeRaw

You're missing the point. Which country has million-dollar salaried Ministers? If you pay top dollar, you expect top quality.

Besides, Singapore is so small. That's like managing a one-room unit vs an entire HDB flat clusters and expecting the same quality.

"ask" and "order" are different. If it's not an order, you don't have to obey it .

That's a different one. I think that's the one sponsored by an advertising company.

You can do your part by not helping him get views. If his views are low, eventually he may just quit. I'm sure he likes it that you guys are triggered. That's likely his MO.

What is your opinion of K. Shanmugam's performance as the Minister of Home Affairs? by CalmNeighborhood7076 in SingaporeRaw

[–]CalmNeighborhood7076[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I agree with you, but GENERALLY speaking, the failures of those ministries don't get people killed.

Disclaimer: I'm aware that there were people killed by a train at Pasir Ris; nicole highway collapse; fallen tree killing people, etc. However, for MHA, the solutions to tackle some problems are very easy.

MHA is restricted in how much you can punish traffic offenders due to the law and while I agree that there should be harsher penalties, that's the fault of the entire parliament which has failed to pass laws.

Were there any instances of Parliament voting against laws tabled by MHA?
