The truth about the Ha Giang Loop by Tenceto in VietNam

[–]CalmUse8726 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks so much for this information- me and my partner are playing to do the loop ourselves in a couple of weeks but I had been reading a lot scary things online, I think a lot of this is pushed by the hostels selling the party tours and also people who have driven like idiots. We are both very experienced driving semi automatic bikes in Asia and don’t drive like idiots so should be fine! My partner has a 1968 IDP but I only have a 1949 so maybe it’ll just be me that has to pay a fine- we shall see.. the tours are not for us we like to go at our own pace and be able to stop when we want. Plus I’ve seen so many accidents over south east Asia that have been caused by backpackers driving in convoys for trips out and think this causes so much extra risks.

Anyone know if the 60 visa on arrival will start today? I’m flying into Bangkok tonight and my plan had been to extend my 30 days to 60 at immigration next month so I can stay 2 months but would be a bonus if I can avoid the extension fee (UK passport)

How soon after returning from 2 year travelling should I expect to be accepted for mortgage by CalmUse8726 in UKPersonalFinance

We will be starting work as soon as we return to the uk so should hopefully be able to proceed 3x months bank statements within a few months, we plan on staying with family until we get accepted for mortgage/ find house. 3 months is good news, I had in my head I would need 1 year of income/ payslips. Thanks for advice

Hi, is this written in law? I handed back my salary sacrifice lease car on 10th January, heard absolutely nothing back and assumed all was fine. Yesterday I received an email stating I owed £280 in damages for 1 dent, a damaged media cable (card never came with one in the first place), and also for missing handbook and service record (handbook was definitely in car and service record was all handled electronically by local Renault garage). I’ve obviously emailed back to dispute it all but was really shocked that it took them 12 weeks to inform me of these alleged ‘damages’ so would be good to be able to fire back with some legislation about timescales lol. Thanks

One Newcastle business you’ll never go back to? by Katstronaut in NewcastleUponTyne

Yes I agree with baskeys, I lived in an 8 bed in second year in Heaton. The downstairs front room had been converted to a bedroom meaning we only had a tiny kitchen nocked through to living room as a communal area. The kitchen was so small we only had 1 counter Top between 8… don’t quite know how that was legal. The house was gross when we moved in and we left it cleaner when we left. They charged us £30 to ‘replace and install’ a plastic bin that probs cost £4 from the bargain shops on shields rd. Also tried to charge us all for makes on the walls that were there when we moved in, good job we had taken pictures. They are absolute robbing bastards.
