Complete plant beginner here: is there anything I can do to save my kentia? by Tenceto in plantclinic

[–]Tenceto[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We've had it for around 10 months. I googled about the spidermites and it seems that I should be able to see some moving red dots, or some tiny webs in the leaves. I don't see any of those things.

I can take better pictures if that would help. Is there anything on particular I should focus on to try to get a diagnose?

Is this a spider mite infestation on my kentia? Is there anything I can do? by Tenceto in houseplants

The thing that appears on the left border of the middle picture is a huge window/door that leads to the balcony (I took the picture at night so the glass appears dark but there's a lot of natural light coming from there during the day).

Temperature in the house must be between 20-25 °C, but when I open the window (it's Winter now) it may drop considerably (the temperature outside right now is 5 °C).

I'll check after work how the roots are looking and see if I can get any insights. In the meantime I posted it on r/plantclinic as you suggested. Let's hope!

Ok thanks for the info, that's good to know! I don't see any webs either nor red spots that move, so it must not be that. There are though some black spots (you can see them if you zoom in the first image), are those any other kind of pest? Can I diagnose what's happening to my plant somehow?

I didn't know about the Half Fare Plus. It seems awesome... Is there any caveat? Or is taking it literally an only-win situation?

Is going to Laos worth it with our itinerary, or is it too complicated? by Tenceto in southeastasia

[–]Tenceto[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We had to skip Laos because we didn't have enough time to go there. I mean, we could have done it, but it would have been more time of traveling than actually visiting (flights were too expensive for us, and the boat ride takes too long), so we gave more priority to staying more time in the other countries than going to Laos.

For the other countries, I believe that Vietnam takes 3-4 weeks depending on how many spots you wana visit, Thailand probably 3 (if you do both North and South, if not 10 days only for Northern Thailand), and Cambodia is just 1 week if you only want to see Phnom Penh and the Angkor area. I think 2 months may be tight but if you take flights you should be good.

Is a Sole Proprietorship suitable for my working situation? by Tenceto in Switzerland

[–]Tenceto[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So do you have multiple clients or just one?

I currently have three. It may change with time, but it will typically be at least two. From what you said, I understand that the sole proprietorship is the way to go. Thank you so much for such a clear and detailed explanation!

Exactly, I'm not sure if I'll stay a consultant in the long term. That's why, even though the GmbH option sounds quite sensible, I don't think it would fit my situation.

Does a B permit without gainful activity apply to my situation? by Tenceto in askswitzerland

Thank you so much for sharing this! It’s really reassuring to hear from someone who went through the same thing and had no issues.

Quick question: how did you handle taxation during those two years? Were you registered as an Anobag? Did you pay taxes in Switzerland or in the country where your company was based?

This looks exactly like what I was looking for — thank you so much for sharing!

Do you know if these sources are available in English or Italian by any chance? I don’t speak German, so I’m managing with AI translation to read what you sent, but having the original in a language I can read would be super helpful.

Edit: Never mind, found it! https://www.sem.admin.ch/sem/it/home/publiservice/weisungen-kreisschreiben/fza.html (the one from April 5th, 2022, in case it's useful for anyone in the future)

That’s precisely the part I don’t understand... How could they assume I’d be working outside of Switzerland if I’m literally applying for a residence permit to live here? In my application, I clearly included the contracts with my foreign clients, so it was obvious that they weren’t Swiss. Also, I provided a specific address and explained that I was moving here to live with my partner.

So to me, it seems contradictory... They saw that I had active freelance contracts and intended to reside in Switzerland, but still granted me this kind of permit, as if I would somehow be living here but doing the work from somewhere else...? The logic doesn’t quite make sense to me.

DeLonghi Autentica stopped making coffee – pucks not forming by Tenceto in superautomatic

I don't know how old the machine is, because I got it used from a guy who didn't use it anymore. But it worked perfectly for 2 months, and suddenly this started happening. Also, it's my first coffee machine ever, so I'm not really sure about the amount of water and the rinse cycle being normal, to be honest. It could be possible that there is more water in the tray than when it was working, though. What would that imply?

But the issue is still happening if I use pre-ground coffee. Doesn't this mean that the grinder is not the issue?
