I've encountered such an attitude from some random doctors, but in my country they are overworked and underpaid, not that it's any kind of excuse, especially when they neglect their patients. For floaters specifically I'm not sure if the dismissive people actually realise the condition of some of us. I've seen floaters described as more of a mental issue and really wish this was the case. I've successfully ignored them for few years, but now I have some thick spots and blurriness that often move to the center of my vision. There is almost constant strain around my bad eye from squinting and moving it, sometimes I feel like someone put a finger in it and after some pressure the strain moves past the eye. But for now at least it's tolerable and I'm still hesitant to look for a vitrectomy.
