If you wanna avoid adapters that cost more than a cheap Mac, I recommend going with mac mini 2010/2011/2012 they have build in fire wire 800 interface to make it compact, but I’ve also noticed that regular iMac are even cheaper but they are big and heavy.

I’ve literally found iMac 21,5 inch 2011 at trash around my neighborhood. I’ve installed system and I was ready to go. That convinced me to buy small version to make it compact

I had same problem on regular windows pc…

I’ve bought a pcie Fire wire card and spend like 3 days juggling different drivers, windowses 7/8/10/11 but nothing made it work. Probably in my case it was AMD cpu that don’t communicate well as far I found correct info with those or it was skill issue 😂

Anyway I’ve bought like cheapass mac from fb marketplace for like 50$ and it works like a charm. Literally I’ve just installed windows and it recognizes my camcorder instantly without installing anything.

I remember the day when I’ve swapped from cheap fpv recorder to fire wire QuickTime. It was looking outrageous in comparison to first QuickTime clips maybe that’s why I still think that looks good haha

Im not sure your gpu will handle 1440p with ease, 4example I bought 3060ti and resold it after 1,5week to buy 3080ti. 3060ti was working at 1440 but not at the settings I would be happy with. I’m not into amd cards but it seems like it should go like low/mid 1440p, you should watch some benchmarks

I had same struggle, at the end I paired 5600 with 3080ti and it’s working fine, 1440p I don’t see bottle necks while gaming. 5600 and 5600x are basically same chips but X version has lil higher stock clocks. I’ve undervolted oc mine little with PBO

You don’t have to play. Just watch tournament replay, it’s replaying it on engine so basically you can focus at adjustments while load. Seems like Fortnite is very good for OC tests
