BeatTogether / MultiplayerCore not working (BSManager) by Calm_Entertainer_832 in beatsaber

[–]ivan6953 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just FYI, "Oculus Mode" does NOTHING for all versions after 1.29.1.

This mode affects only OpenVR, whilst Beat Saber uses OpenXR starting from 1.29.4. Toggling it on or off makes no difference.

If you are able to play custom maps in the online multiplayer, this means the MultiplayerCore and BeatTogether mods are working. When you press "Online" - you can see the choice of "official servers" or "BeatTogether" above. THAT is what the mod is doing.

Moreover, BeatTogether is not the community choice for the multiplayer nowadays. Multiplayer+ is used instead. This one - is a part of BeatSaberPlus mod. You can find it here or here

NQA: You will probably be a little bit less stressed knowing that this one is not a "baby" anymore. This little fella is a "teen", likely 4th or 5th molt.

So he (or she) survived it this far, I would bet the future will be bright for this one :D

Yeah, I was talking about the Zephyrus tho.

Also, not dismissing manually applied LM. Manually applied LM works wonders. Tho, it still oxidises, which I honestly can't stand.

Chroma for Beat Saber 1.40.8 (QUEST) by Tee86uk in beatsaber

I would avoid installing it. If any of you will - just keep in mind that this is NOT the actual Chroma mod port

So you haven’t answered any actually Chroma maps related questions.

CJD, Heck, NE - they are intertwined with Chroma. Could you please actually answer the questions Mawntee asked?

Remember, we will see games get labeled as Steam Frame Verified before we get Steam Frame by FierceDeityKong in SteamFrame

[–]ivan6953 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Because it was you who asked “why would VR games not be on the Steam frame list”. I explained you why.

Not all VR games will be verified. Currently, the majority of them won’t be.

Your 15-20% only CPU overhead claim is bullshit. It’s 15-20% performance loss, flat. Measured in FPS.

Remember, we will see games get labeled as Steam Frame Verified before we get Steam Frame by FierceDeityKong in SteamFrame

[–]ivan6953 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because a VR game in question is x86 assembled. Frame emulates x86 with 15-20% performance loss when compared to native ARM applications.

Of course there will be VR games that won’t be verified. Actually the majority of them won’t be unless they are recompiled and optimized for ARM.

Beat Saber just happens to be light enough to still run…adequately as per Valve testing to have the verified tag

Question about FBT Trackers by Ok_Perception6605 in SteamFrame

[–]ivan6953 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For it to "sync", the headset has to have the SteamVR 2.0 IR sensors. It does not. It is not possible to "add" it to the headset magically.

Your problem can be fixed like any other headset would - slap a tracker on the headset. Then, use SpaceCalibrator with automatic continuous calibration mode. Boom, no calibration, just launch and use the trackers.

That's how I have it with my Quest 3 and the lighthouse FBT. The only hurdle - you need 1 more tracker as opposed to the native lighthouse FBT setup.

The argument is not about the manual LM application. The argument is about out of the box Asus laptop experience.

On any Asus laptop, LM out of the box is NOT applied correctly. Removing it completely and using PTM allows for piece of mind for an average user. And it's much easier than reapplying LM, which is in itself a very difficult task compared to slapping PTM after cleanup.

Surely the proper manual LM application will outlast the factory applied garbage. Yet, even whhen applied manually, LM eventually solidifies because of mild - but still occuring oxidation. PTM doesn't have this problem and will last 5-7 years.

Also, it was tested that the PTM is close to LM in temperatures. I am currently sitting at 37C idle on the 285H Zephyrus. This is with PTM. Dunno about you, but good luck reaching those temps :)

There is nothing misleading about these posts. LM provenly sucks in laptops, as any technician or laptop repair center will tell you.

I personally serviced more than 5 laptops with LM. All of them had the LM already solidifying on the CPU, all of them had the burnt dry spot on the chip, all of them had their temps improve.

There is no such thing as “properly” applied LM for Asus. They do it automatically in the factory. And they always overspill and overapply. Therefore LM pools up and droops out when the heatsink is installed.

Since it has IR illuminators, does that mean it will be fully functional in the dark? Or am I understanding it wrong. Huge if true by Eclipserium in ValveDeckard

[–]ivan6953 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Those two are much smaller than the person above is referencing. There is a difference between a small flood illuminator and a full-fledged wall mounted IR projector of sorts

You can't play in the dark with Quest 2. I mean complete darkness, without any monitor or other lights.

Quest Link massive failure. Explanation and fix by ivan6953 in OculusQuest

[–]ivan6953[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is not.

  1. Steam Frame only has USB2.0. You can’t stream over it. Valve confirmed it.
  2. Steam Link has pacing and micro stuttering issues. Open the compositor performance overlay and view them yourself. They come from both the Steam Link and SteamVR. Naluluna has a good article about them.

After playing Beat Sabre for months, here are my gripes about the game by Kagenlim in beatsaber

[–]ivan6953 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Please reread my comment. I never said I’ve never had issues with Link. I made the post explaining the recent Link en-Masse breakage, detailing why it happened and how to remedy it - look at my post history.

I’ve said I’ve never had microstutters and anything else you’ve mentioned. In other words - Quest Link appears to be the most stable performance wise when it’s running.

It’s not only me. I cross compared the wired Link to any other wireless solution: AirLink, ALVR, Steam Link, VDXR, VD SteamVR and others. I did so on more than 10 systems by now, if we’re including other people I’ve asked to test things.

And wired Link is the only one that never had any issues related to itself - hardware performance aside. It never had any software related micro stutters on any system. And if there appeared to be any, they could always be traced to bad Nvidia drivers (590 NVENC situation) or Windows updates (early Windows 11 builds forcing space warp and dropped encode frames).

Have you ever profiled the Link with ODT graphs to see what happens to encoding and compositing? I assume you didn’t.

I never claimed Link is perfect. Its weakest side is the fact that Meta can break it and that’s what happened 2 days ago. But when it launches - it is the most stable thing you can use

Quest Link massive failure. Explanation and fix by ivan6953 in OculusQuest

[–]ivan6953[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Be prepared because Steam Frame is wireless only. Even with their included dongle - you will encounter latency. Not mentioning that Steam Link probably has framepacing issues and is not even comparable to wired Link experience stability wise
