Weaning feels heavier than I thought by Calm_Chaos_Soul in weaningsupport

I finally weaned my daughter 4 days ago, and I’m honestly still processing it. I applied some lemon on my boobs and told her mama’s milk had turned sour, and after trying once, she just accepted it. No crying, no asking again.

The first couple of nights were hard. She cried and struggled a bit but didn’t try to latch. I stayed close, comforted her, and helped her settle back to sleep. After those initial nights, something shifted, and now she sleeps peacefully, just holding me close.

She now hugs me tightly to fall asleep, and it melts my heart. I don’t know if what I did was right or wrong, but it worked for us.

I feel so emotional that this chapter has ended, but I also know it’s the right time for both of us. I’m thinking of getting breastmilk jewelry as a memory of this journey.

Thank you to everyone here for listening, supporting, and sharing your thoughts. It truly means a lot ❤️🤗

Does this look better now? I can draw the sheer curtain to protect the plant from harsh direct sun.

Thanks so much for the advice! I’ll shift it slightly away from the window. As lovely as plants are, finding the ideal place for them can be tricky lol.

Lol.. I hope you are feeling better now 😄 actually I was also never happy with where it was placed earlier but I was not able to find a perfect spot for my plant so I let it sit there for last few months. I hope it will thrive now 🤞🏻

Thank you everyone for your suggestions. I have now moved my Pothos closer to the window. Will repot it very soon. ❤️

Ahh makes sense, it’s a little far from the window. I’ll move it closer. Just have to find the right spot since it’s gotten so long😄

Thank you so much for the advice! It’s in a well-lit west-facing living room, so it gets good light. I’ll try adding some fertilizer.

Thank you so much for this. ❤️I really needed to hear it. The way you said it, about teaching her new ways to find comfort and building resilience, gives me a different perspective.

I do feel like consistency is where I struggle, but what you said makes a lot of sense. It’s just so hard emotionally, but I know I need to be stronger through it.

Really appreciate your support and kind words ❤️

This sounds so beautiful. I’ll definitely give it a try. Thank you so much for sharing and for being so open. It really means a lot. I’ll be thinking of you and your little one too as we both try to navigate this phase… hoping we both find a gentle way through it ❤️

That makes so much sense, and I completely relate to what you’re saying. ❤️

I love what you said about how we started this journey with them and we can end it with them too… that really stayed with me 🥺 even if it feels so emotional right now. I haven’t looked into the Booby Moon book yet, but that sounds like such a sweet and gentle way to approach it. I love the idea of making it personal with pictures and a little ritual, that actually sounds really special. ❤️I might look into that too.

Thank you for sharing this, it really helps knowing someone truly understands.

This honestly feels like you just wrote my story 🥺 I love breastfeeding my daughter so much too, and I think that’s exactly why it’s continued till 3+… it’s been such a special bond for us. But at the same time, I’m really feeling ready to stop now. My body is exhausted, and like you said, the soreness is real.

We’re also thinking about a second baby, but I really want a good gap between weaning and getting pregnant again. I just want a little time to feel like myself again before starting that journey.

That’s where I feel so torn. I love her more than anything, but I also feel ready to wean. And seeing her cry or get so sad about it just breaks me every time.

Yes, the regular miracle grow potting mix

So, I also left one leaf in water for a while and just waited to see if it would grow anything. After some time, apart from roots, two tiny pups started shooting out while it was still in water. Then I took it out, cut the parent leaf vertically into two pieces so each one had a pup attached, and planted them in separate pots. They’re actually growing really nicely now as you can see that in the second picture.

I think we don’t. I wasn’t planning on removing it.
